When you leave burks jewelers you better take your jewelry elsewhere to have your stones checked. He swapped the diamonds out of my deceased mom's tennis bracelet. Replaced them with all types of mixed fake stones. He was all over the news for doing this to others so it's not just me. He is a smooth talking con man who wants to threaten you when you confront him. He super glued my 14k amethyst ring when I paid him to replace the prong and supplied him with the gold. He swapped the 14k gold post on my Onyx earring and now the back wint fit. I paid him to fix a 18k emerald ring which was missing a stone. He removed two stones stating he could not match them and they don't match so my ring is permanently damaged, missing 2 vs 1 stone when I took it to him. A jeweler since has stated the replacement stone is plastic! He kept the stone that he removed. Anyone that knows jewelry knows no cheap stones are set in 18k gold. I took several items at once and he damaged or stole from every piece. Burks is a disgrace to the African American race. It's low down cons like him that make it hard for Black businesses. I would gladly post pictures or video footage to support everything that he has done. Also.any customer that recieved a call from him out of the blue you need to check your jewelry!!!! During the time that he was all.over the news he called me, acting like he was doing a follow up but he was phishing to see if I saw the News because he know he swapped my diamonds. I played it off. The News coverage stated he had a previous case also from someone in Marietta, Cobb County Georgia he swapped a diamond that had a serial number on it. How stupid is that? I'm sure these lawsuits are public record. All I wanted to do was let him know that I was aware of the switch, I wasn't even going after him legally because I know this man is going to let greed secure his seat in hell.....oh, the tennis brace was rare yellow diamonds btw and he didn't even use equal size stones. He used different colors and sizes. My aunt referred me and swore by this man's services until I showed her what he did to her sisters jewelry. He flashed a gun on me when I told him I was aware of the theft. You know why? Because he knows he did it! If I was the type for self restitution, this story would have a sad ending but l chose to let God deal with him. I pray he realizes it not worth before he leaves this earth. Material things are temporary but burning in hell is eternal torture. I will wait on that call for an apology so that his soul can rest. If not 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 not...
Read moreMy engagement ring broke in dramatic fashion, the band separated from the setting in two places! The ring was my Nana's, it's at least 70 years old, and my Dad gave it to my now Husband to give me. Needless to say, the ring means a lot to me (and my family!) I called Burks and had an at least 20 minute conversation with Douglas himself about the ring and how they could potentially fix it. He listened to my story and concerns patiently even though it was the end of his day and offered to set up a time over the weekend, where he could take a look at the ring personally. When I arrived on Saturday, Douglas welcomed me and took the most care with the ring and coming with a plan. Something had come in before me so it seemed they wouldn't be able to fix it until Tuesday, which gave me a heart attack. He assured me it would be taken care of, showed me all of his credentials even and I apologized as my anxiety had nothing to do with him, it was not having the ring in my possession for a few days. I left the store and tried to calm my nerves while running some errands. Just an hour and half later, I received a call from Burks that my ring was ready for pick up! I nearly cried. I am forever grateful for Douglas and his team for taking the time to understand my concerns and making the quick turn around happen while also giving me my ring back to me looking like it was brand new! There is something to be said about that personal attention that you can't get at any of the chain stores. A friend recommended Burks and I am SO glad they did. Thank you to Douglas and...
Read moreMy family have been with this jeweler for a very long time. That didn't stop him from being a con artist to his long time customer. His store was "robbed" a few years back of course he had to take out a insurance claim. Anyway our jewelry was "taken" during the "robbery" . However he did say he was going to customize both my grandmothers and my own ring to take place of the ones that was in his possession during the "robbery"... It took me more than a few phone calls and pop ups at the location for him to have my jewelry ready. After maybe 8 months my ring is ready, my grandmothers still haven't even started on. April 2015 my grandmother passed every time I went into the shop I asked him about my grandmothers ring, he always replied he was working on it. My mother finally went up to the shop and he gave her this size 3 ring with 4 stones inside.... My grandmother has 15 grand kids. The ring consisted of Each of her grand kids birth stone. The original ring was a gold cluster with 15 different birth stones and space for more because again she added on every time we had addition to the family. We even had to call the police on him at his business and the police even told us they had plenty of calls about this man poor business and poor quality service and product. Im all for supporting the community but this is why Its hard because our community tries to...
