We paid $15 to see Hamlet at 6:30pm on Saturday, March 13, 2021. We arrived 15 minutes before the show was to start. The cast along with the sound/production manager was turned up to Beyoncé blasting through the speaker system. Good indication that the show and sound was going to be great! However, when the show finally started 15 minutes late, there was a problem with the sound. We sat through the entire play guessing what they were saying. In the beginning an attempt to fix the problem was made, but after about 15 minutes the manger didn’t care. Someone got batteries and brought to the sound manager, but to no avail the sound was still inop. As we sat there, trying to figure out what was being said, a motorcycle went by with blasting music. The sound manager started holding her arm up dancing to the motorcycle’s music. I thought as we sit here struggling to hear your show, you have the nerve to get crunk to music going by. The lack of care. You just charged people $15 for a play that we didn’t hear. After the play was over, she/he jumped up to hand out cards for another production to the patrons. How about an apology for the fact your sound was inop. How about have the cast speak louder, because your sound didn’t work. I asked who could I speak with about a refund for the lack of sound. I was told to contact rolecall on Monday. The sound manager came running up to me as I was walking away and said, ‘do you have a complaint’. I said yes, the sound. She/he asked for the card back handed to me after the show. I asked what did that have to do with my complaint. She/he said,, ‘well if you didn’t like this show, you won’t like the next one’. I explained the show might have been great, however I could not hear it. I think it’s sad you start late and don’t conduct proper sound checks before your show starts. You are so busy twirking to Beyoncé and mingling with friends before the show, instead of getting your stuff together. At the very least issue an apology to your audience. The lack of care is why certain people are not supported. I am sitting here at the front door of rolecall in ponce city market and the door is locked. No one to talk to about a refund. The $ is not my issue. The lack of care and much attitude given to me when I ask questions about the sound. The fact that you let people sit through this production and not care if they heard the show or not, without offering an apology,...
Read moreRolecall is a great place for the performing arts. I have great admiration to the management team, especially the General Manager! For the past couple years I’ve performed comedy at many venues who claim to be the best Atlanta has to offer. The problem with these other venues is that they aren’t willing to venture into new markets. Ive approached all of them to start a Spanish comedy show, only to be rejected countless times. When I found out about Rolecall I thought it would be the same story but nooo! Within an hour they had already responded and accepted my proposal!
Hope one day I can repay all of you for this life changing opportunity. I won’t...
