Too Much Pork for Just One Fork!
So , I arrived a few minutes before they opened and parked in spot for on-line order pick up. Not a problem. ๐ Free on street parking is available. I was greeted inside by a smiling face that belonged to Donna. Donna is truly a genuine feel good kind of person who answered all my questions about the menue and suggedted some of her personal favorite's . She explained the history and also about the new location on the belt line.
I ordered half slab rib plate with Brunswick stew and Mac-n-cheese for sides. The M-n-C was the BEST I've EVER had. They use shells instead of macaroni which captures the perfectly browned thick cheese and made it absolutely delicious. The Brunswick stew consisted of perfectly shredded pork. Just the right amount of corn and seasoning that gave it a not too soupy texture. The 1/2 slab consisted of 6 perfectly smoked ribs with just the right amount of bark. No need for sause but they have a variety of sauses to choose from. Garnished with half sour pickle slices and pickled onion. No Texas toast or cornbread for side yet but you can get a sweet Hawaiian roll if you ask. Donna brought me a small sample of their creamed corn to try. Mmmmmm a hint of jalapeรฑo wilt cheesy emulsified corn that will blow your mind.
I had water to drink but a well stocked bar with ample bourbon selection was available. Tuesdays they offer taco and margarita specials.
The music is at perfect volume with a great selection of alternative and rock playing. The restaurant and bathrooms were immaculately clean and corn hole is available outside.
During my visit Atlanta's Cheif of Police was dining with some other officers of distinction so the location is definitely safe lol. Just around the corner from Oakland Cemetery. Great place to tour and then go to Das BBQ chew on sum Q'ue. Great food , great value, great atmosphere!!
Good job folks. Donna is in charge of catering if you ever need to feed your people or celebrate an event this is who you...
ย ย ย Read moreFirst time coming here this past Sunday. The atmosphere was wonderful. I loved the decor. The space is a bit small but utilized well. They use mostly long/large tables with lots of seating, and there is a good bit of outdoor seating. There is a nice variety of food options, mostly typical of a BBQ restaurant with pulled pork, brisket, ribs, and chicken, plus they offered some salad options and a cantina menu. Drink options were fountain sodas, iced tea, or bottled drinks. The food tasted great, I ordered a pulled pork sandwich with mac & cheese. The only thing I wasn't completely happy with was the potion size was smaller than I am used to from a BBQ place, there was no meat showing at the edge of the bun it was all in the center of the bun, where as from any other BBQ place I've gone to the meat is piled high and falling out of the bun/bread. Also, the meat was not sauced at all that I could tell, but they do provide a variety of 3 different kinds of sauces, a vinegar based, a mustard based, and a regular BBQ sauce, on the tables for anyone who wants to add it to their meal. And I can understand why they would serve it that way, to accommodate people who don't like sauce on their BBQ or who prefer one kind of sauce to another. The service was ok, I personally didnt have any problems but some in my group did, the orders did not come out in the order they were placed, one guy in my group ordered the chicken tacos from the cantina menu and had asked for no sauce but they brought them out with sauce, this was fixed quickly, and one other guy had asked for a to-go box at the end of our meal but the server never brought him one, another person in our group went and got one for him. Overall, I had a great experience and would definitely...
ย ย ย Read moreIโm not going to enjoy writing this review, but you have to give an honest opinion and my thoughts are pretty average. You can tell whoever bought this place, sunk a ton of money into it. Iโve never seen so much smoking equipment. They have 5 industrial size smokers right in front of the restaurant. The space is huge and there was hardly anyone there on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.
We came here for bocce courts, while the outside is nice, itโs next to a busy road and close enough to the interstate where you hear the constant humming of cars. It kind of ruins the outside esthetic.
I ordered the wings and brisket, with cream corn and baked beans. I would go back just for the corn, the cheese and pepper flavor if so good, it taste like shaved elotes. The wings were alright but pretty dry. I understand bbq is usually made the morning of, and served to order. But Iโve had smoked wings a lot and these were sitting out for a while. My favorite smoked wings are the local. The brisket was okay, a good bark a mediocre cut, and not very juicy. The baked beans were a bit saucy and okay. What I will say is there bbq sauce choices were awful. Not enough choices, and too much vinegar. It is my personal preference but I hate vinegar forward bbq sauce.
The drinks are very good, and they have jack and coke for only 5 bucks! Even though the margs come out of a tap, they are pretty good. The service was generally pretty nice. Again I hate writing a meh review but my experience was that. I hold a high standard for bbq and the only one in Atlanta I stand by is heirloom. Bottom line I wonโt be back, unless some friends want to go. I donโt like the interstate and big money atmosphere. I would likely pass up the food unless it...
