Forgot to post this when I called in for a hair appointment last time, but thought I'd share it now. Better late than never. I rarely post reviews like this, but I think future and current customers should know.
I called in last time I needed a hair cut, and I asked for Sam who has cut my hair a few times now. There was availability with Sam (assuming the owner in the first chair behind the cashier counter), but the person who I was speaking to said there was a note saying Sam will not cut my hair anymore. I asked him why, and he was hesitant and said he will ask Sam and have him call me. I never got a call, and there is absolutely no reason why he wouldn't cut my hair. There were no prior issues, or anything I can think of that would cause this. This shows that Sam's Hair Salon is NOT loyal to their customers nor do they care to follow up and at least tell me why. The person I spoke to said the note also said that I can get a cut with anyone else but Sam. Who knows and who cares why at this point.
From my experience with Sam, he is alright. He cares enough to get paid for his service, but does not go above and beyond by any means. His cuts are mediocre at a $23 price point. I think it's a little high for the quality, but I went back more than once because I was trying to see how consistent he is. I came to find out that he's isn't consistent at all. Every cut was different. I know I asked them to put the kind of cut I get in their computer under notes under my name so they have the info every time I get a cut, but they didn't seem to care to do so. I'd have to tell them every time the kind of cut I need and asked if anything was in the computer and they said no, but Sam has told me he would put it in. Clearly he doesn't care to make his customers happy.
I went here because of the good reviews, but to be honest, things change over time, and I wouldn't waste your time on this place. Especially because I had multiple issues,...
Read moreI normally love Sam's salon and have been coming here for years; however, after my experience this past week with Melki, I may be looking for a new salon. Do NOT let her come anywhere near your hair.
A couple of weeks ago I came in for a cut and booked her because I recognized her from 2qute salon; I showed her a wolf cut with a lot of layers and texture, which she did not achieve and she ended up walking away and having another stylist fix my hair. She gave very few layers and the cut was extremely blunt, so we ended up having to cut off a LOT more hair than was necessary to fix it.
Against my better judgment, I went back to her this past Friday for an updo. An extremely simple updo, at that. She would not listen to anything I wanted, and got angry at me for speaking up and telling her I did not want her to do what she was doing. She accused me of not knowing what I wanted, and began aggressively pulling and brushing my hair. She also told me that if she was not working for Sam, she would be charging me $500 for this style. For what??? I have never been treated so poorly or unprofessionally at any hair salon before. She also used a large thick hair tie and made an extremely poor attempt to conceal it. I'm pretty sure anybody who's ever done hair before would know that was not the appropriate hair tie. I just left and paid because I did not want her to continue to mess up my hair. My mother, who is not a hair stylist, was able to fix it and achieve the exact style I wanted, so I'm not sure why Melki was not able to style it. Frankly, I'm not even sure why...
Read morePermanent waves may not be in vogue right now, but I'm 64 and have fine, thin, straight hair. Planning a major vacation, I decided a perm was the best way to combat the ponytail blues, but JEEZ I couldn't find one anywhere! A few chi-chi salons said they would see me for a consultation in 3 weeks, but I'm leaving in 2! Another told me "Honey, that ain't in style no more!" Well, neither am I! Anyway, I searched further and further from home and found this simple set-up, not so very far, and they could see me the next day! Ian was my stylist, and you couldn't ask for a lovelier man. Chatty but not too chatty, very encouraging and about 50% less $$ than a high end salon. DEFINITELY...
