Have been coming to the Borgata for 4 years & never had a chance to try the spa…Today my girlfriend & I checked out of the hotel but decided to hit the spa for an hour, use the steam room & get ready for lunch there before meeting her parents. When we tried to enter we were stopped & told they could not let my gf in because they were at capacity on day passes for women. I explained to Hannah, the front desk girl, (who had a hard time formulating her own thoughts about anything) that we didn’t need to use the spa if that was the case & can just go change and be on our way but had already checked out and needed to at least change our clothes. She said sorry policy is policy. She called the manager upon my request and asked if we could at least go change to which the manager initially said no then said if they wanna pay the $80 spa fee to which I obviously replied how insane it was to make us pay $80 just to change so I asked to speak with the manager in person. The manager, Andrea Christman, came out and said I’m sorry but we are at capacity and that’s our policy. I said but if I pay $80 then you’re not at capacity? She said well if you pay $80 then I was willing to make an exception. This is a classic case of being heartless and trying to take advantage of guests. We were told to change in the pool bathrooms which we’re covered in dirt, toilet paper all over the floor and looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in a week. This not only ruined my day but put a disgusting taste in my mouth. There is policy and then there is being humane. On a side note, The day fee at most of the top award winning spas around the country are between $40-$60 including the Fontainebleau in miami yet in New Jersey at a middle of the road spa they charge $80. I highly encourage anyone considering this spa to go elsewhere. Literally can not stand a business that sticks it to its customers nor can I tolerate...
Read moreUPDATED REVIEW in March 2023: Borgata adjusted the charges for the spa treatment. The $140 "Signature Massage" was adjusted and came out to $177 instead of the original charge of $208. I appreciate that Borgata adjusted the charge after a phone call was made to them. As a result, I changed the rating from 3 stars to 4 stars. Thank you Borgata.🙂
ORIGINAL REVIEW in February 2023: I had a wonderful "Signature Massage" on my very first visit to Spa Toccare on 2/23/23. The massage was fabulous but I was not happy that the price I paid for the massage was different from the price listed on the website. The price on the website is misleading and confusing. The website price does NOT reflect the taxes and resort fees that are added on top of the 20% gratuity fee. Taxes and resort fees should NOT be added on top of the gratuity fee and should be added BEFORE adding the gratuity. The price I paid was also higher since I was told it was "presidents week" and that prices were higher but these higher prices were NOT reflected on the website. My $140 "Signature Massage" came out to $208. Be careful when booking an appointment and take a screen shot of the cost on the website since the price will be different when you check in and pay for your treatment. It is frustrating to book an appointment to relax and then have to experience the confusion with cost when you check in. The confirmation email that you receive reflects the date and time to check in but does NOT reflect the total cost. That surprise is left for when you check in. Buyer beware! I recommend the facility but be aware of what the fee is so that you are not surprised like me and my friend were when we checked in...
Read moreThe client service at Spa Tocarre is simply not what it used to be. I booked a prenatal massage and planned to spend the day relaxing. Once I arrived, I was escorted to my locker and went straight back for the treatment to begin. The massage with Eileen was nice, but once it ended I was quickly walked back into the locker room. I grabbed some tea and sat down on the sofa to relax for a moment before heading back to the hot tub area to dip my feet in and lay on a lounger. Then, two repair men walked into the women’s locker room unannounced. Confused and uncomfortable (as I was only wearing a spa robe) I stood up to be directed to the hot tub area, figuring that maybe something was going on in the lounge area, and that I could head back for more privacy. Once I stood up, the woman from the desk told me that the hot tubs and loungers were closed for repair. NO ONE bothered to disclose this to me before whisking me away to my pricey treatment. Annoyed, I sat down to try and finish my tea, when that same spa attendant opened to door for another man to enter the womens locker room, stating “she knows you’re fixing something, come on in.” I ditched the tea and headed towards the showers in hopes of at least washing off the massage oil that remained on my body, only to find that the men were on the other side of a glass door adjacent to the showers and restroom area. Uncomfortable, I skipped the shower and headed out. When I politely complained to management, all she did was offer a “free day pass” to return and use the hot tub in the future. Ultimately, a call to Customer Care fixed the issue - I was given a...
