Among her many credentials is: Founder of the Haines Normal and Industrial Institute, Founder of the Lamar School of Nursing, which was directly connected to the Lamar Hospital for black patients, Founder of the first kindergarten for black children, and she was key in the founding of the NAACP. FINALLY came to where the parking lot is and went and rang bell 3x.. Finally a young lady came to door and I asked if Museum was open? She said yes but just a, minute. . Walked away came back within 30 seconds only to ask me if I can come, back at 1pm..I politely said no... and asked why she said tour starts at 1.. then I said is everyone OTL? She, said, yes. . I paid to go on a field trip with a group of people with Aiken Senior life services here in Aiken SC.It was a wonderful experience to, see all of the famous people that have lived in Augusta GA such as James Brown, Laurence Fishbone. So many beautiful photos of African American people that I remember studying about in my history classes in public schools in Madison GA such as, Harriet Tudman, Fredrick Douglas. Education is essential.The staff gave us a tour ,and we watched a movie about Lucy craft Laney ,and the legacy that she left behind.RIP God bless Aiken Senior life services.
