I was excited to go to Michael’s but probably won’t be back. The employee this morning obviously had absolutely no desire to be there and was personally unkempt and rude. I approached the desk for assistance and instead of saying how can I help you? She said in a curt tone “do you have a return?” I said no, then she barked “do you have cash?” I said no she said, “well that’s what this area is for” -exactly what she said. Cool, actually I had a question so instead of telling me all the reasons you’re not gonna help me you could say, how can I help you? Apparently customers are on their own here now. No one helps you at the checkout, there were barely any bags, it was messy, and there was no paper for breakable items. I had to walk across the store because one of my items didn’t have a price tag on it and while I was finding it MYSELF, that same rude employee says LOUDLY and dramatically across the store, “did she just leave all of her stuff here????” I spent $200. I mean all I was trying to do was go to Michael’s and buy Halloween stuff. I was in a great mood and had no interactions with anyone. I have no idea why this was acceptable treatment of a customer. If any of it makes it home in one piece I may just end up returning it. Where is management? Why are you employing people who are that annoyed with customers who haven’t even opened their mouths? Has no one seen the self checkout at the grocery store? There’s an attendant, they are there with bags and whatever else you may need, not someone who is just looking for a reason not to help anyone. She should have noticed that I needed assistance or offered it at any time. I am not an employee of Michael’s. Self checkout should be an option not a requirement. I hate to see what those lines look like when it’s truly busy. Yeah no thanks. Sad to see the decline of this store. Unfortunately it looks like this has been going on for a while from...
Read moreI'm trying to wean myself off Amazon, so before placing an order for supplies for my next project I checked Michaels' website. It said the nearest location, Great Hills Station, had everything I needed in stock and available for same-day pick-up. Yay!
I placed an order and a few hours later got a text saying it was ready for pick-up. Not quite as convenient as having everything just dropped on my doormat, but not bad. I walked the two miles to the store, waited in line for what seemed like forever but was probably really 10 minutes, and then told the lass behind the cash register that I'd come to pick up an online order.
She looked at me strangely and said, "It's over here," then pointed to an open, unattended rack right by the door with a sign saying, "Order Pick-Up". Not exactly the, "You'll have to show your confirmation order," arrangement the website promised, but O.K. She asked for my surname and grabbed an itty-bitty little bag and handed it to me.
I pointed out that it contained roughly half of what I'd paid for. She asked for the order slip in the bag and said, "Oh, these things are out of stock. See where it says 'zero out of zero'?" I asked why I hadn't gotten a, "We only have half the things we promised," text instead of a, "Your order is ready," text, and she said, "They were automatically refunded," as if she thought that was an answer. So I asked to speak to her manager, and asked her the same question. She said, "Corporate should have told you. We don't have access to that system."
So. . .if I order from Michaels I don't get the advantages of a modern inventory system that accurately tracks what's in the store, AND I don't get the advantage of receiving customer service from knowledgeable local staff? Huh.
Not seeing a good reason to...
Read moreFirst of all, i haven’t been in this store for, let say 8 months. Probably since after Christmas. Last weekend decided to stop by looking for a planner, doesn’t matter if it starts from july to june 2026 or till December 2026. The shelf was almost as good as empty, only have 4 small and 1 large. Price? No clue, since position and the price tag was not matched. Sales or not? No clue either, since sales sign was half hanging, feels like visiting abandoned place. Then i decided to take a peek at clearance aisle because sometimes i found jackpots there. Ugh! Tons of baking sprinkles yes, but looking at the mess? Nah skipped it.
Since Michaels is the only one that have Halloween (no more joann), i decided to take a look as well, what kind of cute stuff they got this year. And again, mess and flipped shelf on floor.
Almost every single seasonal aisle i pass by was like that, bunch of stuff on floor, spread out and ignored. Not just that. The year before and before that, everything was organized and had clear story on it. Now it felt all over the place. One aisle of fall and next to Halloween and end cap with Christmas small ornaments. 🫣 sales sign also missing in some aisle which made me wonder if it belonged together or not. That was a real bummer. I used to like this store since it’s the closest to my place. But nah, not anymore. Look around give me headaches. I would rather go to lakeline or sunset valley, far and even further but at least pleasant environment. The staff? Nah no greeting, grouping together chatting, no manager in sight, nor care perhaps? Seems like the new management didn’t care at all about the store and their...
