I made my shahada in this beautiful student-run masjid (I mean the students are beautiful, the building is 105 year old so, yeah) in 1996. There was no full-time imam back then. When Sheikh Umer, rahimahul'Lah, came to Nueces he proved to be an invaluable font of knowledge; he was sincere, selfless, and a great asset to this community. Alhamdullilah this masjid is a “home away from home”, and host multiple activities through the year and weekly activities like Fajr Breakfast, and YM.
