Switching to paying by app exclusively is a bad idea!! Not everyone has: 1) a smartphone 2) good cell service 3) space on their phone for a new app 4) the tech savvy to set up a new account. I don't take the ferry often so needing to keep an app on my phone for the MAYBE twice a year I'll need it sucks. An app must be cheaper than maintaining the machines, which if I was reviewing them on their own would be a solid two stars because they could be slow to work and often at least one machine would be down. But they always did work in the end. I found out about the switch over from the passive aggressive "adapt now" notice that gave a four month warning (this was in November). How many people are going to show up and have to spend time fiddling with a new app to pay? Especially when ferry radar can be disruptive to reception. Why is everything an app!? I remember when you'd shove dollar bills in a parking spot slot in a big box.

I've been using the online pay system with good success. I transitioned to the online system because the kiosks became unreliable and the vendor posted the attached sign at the kiosks instructing everyone to transition. Today I parked my vehicle and boarded the ferry. I just discovered that online payment is no longer accepted. It's now kiosk only!? I can't pay for my parking and will be gone for 4 days. What happened? Why was this sign ever posted? I will try calling UPark directly but am not feeling positive about this.

There are 3 different lots by the ferry. When you drive up the first lot you see is slightly more expensive and you pay with app + can do multiple day parking. The 2nd place you turn as if you are drive up to the terminal has all day parking, 24 hour, 2 and 3 day options. The third is in the back of the 2nd one. It has a different kiosk that you must use and only has up to 24 hour parking. Pictured is the kiosk for the parking kiosk right by the terminal.

If you’re in the area and looking for an awesome way to get views of the city, and a new experience-this is the way to do it!

I visited Seattle from Michigan and here we love our water. Being on the water is a way of life here. So when we heard we could get to the city via ferry it was a no brainer! We have ferries to get to our islands all over here but this was a huge ferry and a long ride. It was really nice, but we went on a beautiful day also. It was only $8 round trip also....
