I enrolled my 5 y/o son at Charm City MMA’s afterschool program and experienced a horrific incident where my son was not picked up from school and the owner was unaware that my son was missing. When I arrived for pick up, the owner then realized that he was missing, but didn’t communicate with me at all and left out the front door. His staff continuously gave me the impression that my son was in the back area doing activities. However, something was clearly off. When I grew suspicious, I contacted his school in which they informed me that my son was not picked up until 5:30 pm (after the time that I was already waiting at Charm City MMA). The owner picked him up from school at 5:30 and then brought him through the back door instead of the front. My son’s school is only 5 minutes away. So he picked him up and didn’t even bring him through the front door. If they weren’t in the wrong, he would’ve brought my son through the front door and released him to my custody after I asked for him several times. I immediately started crying but didn’t want to make a scene inside of their business around the other parents. I was being gaslit to believe that my son was there the whole time even though his school has a record of when he was signed out. The owner tried to talk to me after the fact but didn’t understand that it was now a legal matter and I didn’t want to talk with him without a legal rep. I’m a counselor also and was very aware that what occurred was child neglect and child concealment. I ended up filing a police report and CPS report. The owner expressed that he wanted to countersue for potential damage to his business as if I was in the wrong. All of this was recorded on camera by the way. Sad because it seems like a reputable business but hope no one ever experiences this. Edit: and the owner’s response below proves my point, threats of retaliation, no accountability and the fact still remains that you left my 5 y/o child.

Coach Joe and Coach Nyjah are an absolute blast to work with! They are exceptional in their skills, and they make sure that they push me to my fullest potential. Whether experienced with martial arts or just a beginner, they will cater to your needs. I have my brother in their after-school program in that they also teach them martial arts, but more importantly, the discipline and mindset that it requires. They treat each member like family, and it’s worth the time to train here :)

Absolutely love supporting students at CCMMA! We cultivate a community where all students can grow and feel successful no matter what their goals are. We have students as young as 3 and as old as 76 who train with us daily. It truly doesn’t matter if you are a novice or expert, there is space to grow and learn. There’s after-school, summer camp, boxing, kickboxing, wrestling, mma, jiu jitsu, weapons and so much more. Come check us out for yourself!

My son just shared the end of summer camp videos and I was so impressed with the choreographed routine they did. More importantly, I could see how much my grandson has progressed since his last belt test. He earned three stripes that day. He has taken his training to heart. He even wants to own his own Martial Arts academy some day. When Joe asked Ram what would he do differently, he emphatically said, Nothing!! Thank you for making my grandson a more confident, more respectful, more courteous and more caring individual. You build up bodies, but you start by building character. I know Ramsey has awesome parents but it makes me happy to know he has the influence of caring coaches and mentors as well. Charm City MMA is the BEST! You Rock!! - MomMom Kathy (and...

I just love this place so much! Coach Nyjah and coach Joe pour so much of their hearts into this gym and you can truly feel how much they care for the students, their employees and the community. As I wait for my adult kickboxing class to start, I get teary eyed when I watch the kids at the end of their classes clapping, smiling and just being kind and friendly to one another. They are teaching more than martial arts at this gym! They are helping build and transform children and adults into confident, strong individuals—both in mind and body. I always have fun and cannot wait to return after the end of each class. I would recommend Charm City MMA without hesitation, even if you have never had previous experiences with this type...
