I’m sharing this in hopes that no one else has to go through what I did, having to scramble a week and a half before my daughter's bridal shower to find a new venue. I booked the River Room at Geneva Winery in Batavia on February 28th with one of the owners, Laura, for my daughter’s bridal shower to be held on June 8th (1–4 PM), with a rental fee of $500 for the room. Laura confirmed the booking with me and said a manager would follow up with a contract and deposit info, but I didn’t hear from anyone until April 24th, when the manager called to say the room had been double booked and we’d need to move to the front retail area, which wasn’t suitable for our 50 guests. I was reassured by Laura that the room was still ours. A week later, while I was on vacation, the manager called again to say it actually wasn’t available. When I returned, I met with Laura on May 3rd. She admitted the mistake and offered either the lawn with tents or a split setup, first hour in the retail area, then moving to the River Room once available, "at no extra cost". I reluctantly agreed and continued planning. I followed up multiple times about the contract, and when I finally received it on May 9th, the times and pricing were incorrect. The contract listed a 2:30 PM start time with setup at 1:00 PM, which 1pm was the time our event was actually supposed to begin, and included extra charges for things I didn’t request, totaling $1,252.94. I contacted Laura again, expressing concern that they might not be able to accommodate us and that I might need to find another venue. She reassured me once more that everything would be fine and promised a corrected contract. I asked to meet with Laura and her husband Brent to ensure we were all on the same page. We met on May 14th, went over everything, and I left thinking it was resolved. But the revised contract Brent sent removed the unneeded items yet only lowered the price by $2.94 from $1,252.94 to $1,250. I called Laura again, and she agreed the price was still wrong and said Brent would fix it. Instead, Brent emailed demanding full payment of $1,250 before he would send me a corrected contract, without even listing what that price included. With just a week and a half until the shower, I had no choice but to find a new venue. I would strongly caution against doing...

From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. They were knowledgeable about the wines and happy to answer any questions we had. We opted for a tasting, and each wine was unique and flavorful.
But the star of the show was definitely the charcuterie board! It was overflowing with a generous selection of cured meats, artisan cheeses, fresh fruits, and other gourmet accompaniments. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and high-quality, perfectly complementing the wines.
Overall, our experience was nothing short of fantastic. The combination of stunning scenery, friendly staff, delicious wines, and an amazing charcuterie board made it a truly memorable afternoon. We will definitely...
Read moreFraudulent business practices! Constantly went back on their word and lacked accountability for multiple mistakes that ultimately ruined my event. All of my family and friends will never be back here. Edit: This is no coordinated effort, it was my own bridal shower you ruined! We booked the room for $500 in February for my shower in June. Then we were told at the end of April you double booked the room, and that although we had booked it first we had to change our time or move locations when our invitations had already been mailed out. Then after coming to an agreement of sharing the space with the other party, you demanded $1250 upfront before sending a contract less than 2 weeks before the event, which is over DOUBLE the agreed upon rate and with having to share the space? Not to mention the way you speak to people and the lack of...
