I probably should've written this review a very long time ago. I grew up in Batavia (class of '92) went off to college (graduated class of '96). Came back home with a new sweetheart who lived for music. He had made friends with the owners of Kiss the Sky and introduced me to his new favorite store. Spent many good times browsing through the CD's and records. Then they moved to Geneva. I moved there, too, ironically. I distinctly remember my dad passing away suddenly while on a vacation. I went to Kiss the Sky to buy a CD of Norman Greebaum "Spirit In the Sky" (the song my dad said he would want played at his funeral. Well, the owners burned me a CD right then and there (free of charge) of all the songs my dad loved and treasured (he was a Vietnam Vet, so they instinctively knew what songs he would've loved- (think White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane, Knights in White Satin by Moody Blues, etc.). I didn't even have to tell them the songs...they just knew. The kindness is a core memory. I'm glad the store is back home in Batavia and I...
Read moreO M G! Love this place. So many choices...and the pricing on used vinyl is so reasonable! Owner was very helpful and not pushy at all...you can leisurely look thru all the items without feeling rushed...and when worried about a possible skip, they are more than willing to check onturntable gor you. Going thru all the album's was like a time warp for me... So happy to have found this place. To think they have been in the area for so many years and I never thought to check it out until now!! Just pleased as hell I ventured in..and definately excited to visit again, SOON!!! (As I write this I am enjoying one of my many used vinyl purchases) I do want to assure any one put off by the unpriced used items, to not let that discourage you! 4 of my purchases were "not priced" and when priced they all were $6 a piece! Really great price. The owner is happy to check prices, There are just way too many for them to go thru and price all the time, dont be discouraged by this or let this stop you from getting to shop at...
Read moreFor an awesome selection of vinyl, Kiss The Sky is it. the only issue i have is the pricing procedure- it's exhaustive, and can be a challenge for the consumer. if albums were placed in $10-$15, $15-20, etc categories, then id have a ballpark figure of what im spending. (i realize some records Are pre-priced) otherwise, it's up to the manager, one by one. i get that these are the exact current retail values, but that could've been done when the record came in, rather than on its way out. yes the price may have changed, but That Much? as a dealer in vinyl, current market values are already on your radar, and said records could be adjusted accordingly. just a thought! i understand you're a business, and as such, are about making money, but i think pre-pricing in a range would make the whole record buying experience easier for everyone. i have to say, its pretty kool to have a vinyl oasis out here in Batavia. thanks...
