I just enjoy Riverside Pizza and Pub. It's one of my favorite places. To my knowledge they have five locations. St. Charles, South Elgin, Batavia, and Oswego. O.K., a Google search showed me these four locations. I've never been to the ST. Charles or Oswego locations, so far as I can remember. I used to shoot pool on a pool league out of their South Elgin location. The owners were the team sponsors, captains, leaders? It was a fun summer romp. Laid back and easy to work with and play on their team. The Batavia location is the location I most frequent. Plus, my daughters best friend works here. I don't think she has ever waited on me but I hear she sees to it my servers know how to properly prepare my brandy in a warm snifter. Thank you Breanna. It's the simple comforts that makes life worth while. A former co worker, we worked together in the late 80's, turned me on to this location. After 40 years we reunited at another work location here in Batavia. R.I.P. Lesley. She turned me on to 1/2 price pizza night, tuesdays. 1/2 price pasta night, wednesdays. And 1/2 price hamburger nights, Monday's. In that order of priority to my palate. This place is always crowded in the evenings. Lots of parking but still hard to find a place to park. The ingredients here are fresh and quality. The Chicago Deep Dish Pizza, ooooooo.... Don't ever change your mozzarella cheese. Like, I love Rosati's pizza but I feel dehydrated the next morning. Not with Riverside Pizza and Pub. If your visiting in the area and are looking for somewhere to get REALLY GOOD pizza, Riverside Pizza and Pub is on my list. Plus, I don't feel dehydrated the next day. Today is Monday. My day off. I am refinishing a dresser. I can't sand and stain in my apartment. On the other side of Walgreens, a man I attend church with has a small shop where he customizes motorized bicycles. He graciously allowed me the use of space in his shop so I can finish this project of staining and sanding this chivarobe. I salvaged it from an apartment buildings trash area. I decide I have time to stop at Riverside Pizza and Pub for a 1/2 price hamburger before I set about working. I opt to take a seat outside. Inside is loud with high ceilings and people talking. Televisions for viewing throughout the restaurant. The horseshoe shaped bar is centrally located. Some booth seating. Many tables. The outside area is somewhat limited seating but this place has those garage door type of openings that can be raised to let the outside in. Not today though. I experience a feeling of seclusion as I enjoy the outdoor seating away from the clammer. A sprinkling of rain comes through while the sun shines. Magical. Old time rock N roll comes from the speakers. 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's. Mostly 80's and 90's. It's relaxing out here. Not too busy traffic wise. Relaxing. The wine and alcohol menu is quite extensive. The food menu has several categories but not overly extensive. Pizza, burgers, salads and soups, sandwiches, pastas are included with the entree's. The appetizers are quite extensive. This is clearly a pub environment with a menu focused on pub type of grub, plus a little something more. When traveling to the restaurant I think I will be getting the 1/2 price hamburger. Upon previewing the menu, I change my mind to the pot roast sandwich on a garlic bread roll with mozzarella cheese, sauted onions and mushrooms. I add blue cheese. It comes with crinkley cut fries or cole slaw. One can upgrade ones side choice to tater tots, waffle fries, curly fries, or beer battered onion rings for an extra charge. Cheese dipping sauce is a $1.00 extra. I thoroughly enjoyed my selection despite paying full price. I did not up charge my side selection. I would order it up again with the blue cheese. The flavor was not subtle. The pot roast was tender and tasty just like I want for it to be. Gardinerre would have went nice on it. Families with small children are here often. Business lunches take place here. Extended families gather here. Riverside Pizza and Pub has a friendly...
Read moreUnfortunately, all the negative reviews on here are true. The food is really good but the service is awful. We were there at 3pm in the afternoon and it wasn’t very busy. We walked in and a teenager walked right past us and went behind the counter and picked up the phone to take a to go order. Fair enough. A “hello” or something would have been nice but we were ignored. She proceeded to take the order and roll her eyes the entire time. Another teenage girl finally came to seat us and again, no “hello” or anything. Working here seemed like the last place in the world they wanted to be. The waitress come and I decided right off that she was either sick or had been crying. She was solemn, unfriendly, and unwelcoming. She too k our drink order and we placed 2 appetizer orders. It took 12 minutes to get 4 drinks. She, during this time, was standing up at the host desk with 3 other girls, crying while they took turns rubbing her back. She obviously had something going on, but then send her home. Don’t let her situation ruin the time of all the people coming in here to spend money. The boy that brought out food was no better. Rude, no “hello”, reaching across laps to place the pizza down. The waitress finally came back, AFTER we were done eating, to see if we wanted more drinks. By then we were done and really had no patience to be there any longer. We asked for two “to go” containers and again proceeded to wait. Wait while she stood by the bar, wait while she walked in to the kitchen, wait while she stood back by the hostess stand. We finally had to call and ask for a manager to please bring us our containers so we could just pay and go. All the reviews said to go to the St. Charles location. That’s what we’ll be doing next time. People need to realize that in these COVID times, eating out is a luxury. If service isn’t stellar at one place, there at 10 more begging for your business…and are great...
Read moreRiverside Pizza & Pub - Batavia - First, let me start off by saying I love your pizza 99% of the time, however, tonight was not a good experience whatsoever at your Batavia restaurant. We started off with nachos which were just OK and our server didn’t get the order right by adding meat when we didn’t ask for it (still charged the additional $4). We then ordered a medium thin crust pizza with a few toppings which is our usual and always good. When we received the pizza at our table and began to eat our first piece, we knew right away that it was off. The pizza was made SO THIN, it was impossible to chew and enjoy. Absolutely disgusting to be completely honest. Additionally, our server (Adam) was not friendly, attentive or helpful. When I explained our dissatisfaction with the pizza, he agreed that it was “way too thin” and he even touched a couple of pieces but still ended up only giving us $5 off instead of comping the pizza because of how bad it was and we each only had two pieces of a 14 inch pizza ($30). To add to all of this, when Adam brought us our beverages, he simply placed them on the table without saying a word. I don’t understand how hard it is to say the names of the beverages to ensure you’re giving us the right ones especially when we had ordered Coke and Diet Coke…
Lastly, when we were paying this evening, I ended up receiving someone else’s credit card and a completely different bill. Thankfully, WE were able to catch this error before whoever had MY card walked out or took any photos of it. Nonetheless, it should be noted that we had to approach Adam about it because he was completely clueless to what he did.
Overall, this is not the first experience that hasn’t been good at your Batavia...
