We went here on a field trip for my 4th grader. The double-decker bus tour around historic Beaufort was great with the narrator telling the stories of the battles and how the houses were built and who lived in them. After the bus we were able to walk around the site to four different stations. 1st station was candle making, which told who in the household made the candles, how many were made per day and actually made our own to take home. The second station was wooden shingle making, which told the age a person started and how long to become a master shingle maker, showed the sawing of a log, splitting of a log, carving the shingle and then nailing the shingle to the "roof". There is more to the story, but you'll have to visit to find...

We had our ceremony (~100 people) in the backyard of the Manson House and our tented reception in the main lawn area of the Historic Site on Turner St. The director and team at the site were so easy and nice to work with, always promptly answered my questions, and were happy to accommodate all of our wishes for our wedding day- they love to help couples execute their perfect wedding vision! The wedding day ran so smoothly and we are so grateful for their coordination with all of our vendors. I'd highly recommend the Beaufort Historic Site as a fun, unique, and intimate...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe Beaufort historical association or bha, provides visitors with a unique view into the past. Staff primarily by volunteers, you Can tour the old jail. Or you can look in on The Herb cottage. Also on the grounds is a restored home that is now the art gallery. If you really want to enjoy the town, I highly recommend taking the bus which is a double decker from England, with a running monologue from a volunteer while you look at all the historic homes located here in Beaufort. But keep your eyes on Taylor's Creek because dolphins have already arrived. And across the water is Carrot Island and you can see the wild horses that live there. Highly...
