I was born in eastern N.C. and I spent the first 20 years of my life on the coast. My mother lives on Taylor's Creek in Beaufort and our family owns another property on Front Street that is commercial/residential. So, I have an interest in this area and even though I no longer live here, I still visit often. I have never had such a negative experience as the one I had at Cru Wine Bar. My wife and I had just arrived in Beaufort for a late Thanksgiving holiday with the family and we decided to stop and have a cocktail after the long drive from the RDU airport. I ordered two glasses of wine and we sat quietly on the Turner Street side of the bar. There were only 4 people total sitting at the bar, so pretty sleepy as usual for this time of year. We finished our glasses and patiently waited for service while the bartender surfed Yahoo on her iPad. Ten minutes after finishing our first glass of the day we still had not been approached by the bartender. When she finally turned around and came over I told her that we had been waiting for ten minutes while she surfed the web. She immediately took offense and said she was updating the website - I said on Yahoo? - that should be done after hours. You are in the service industry. I should not have to wave you down or call you out at a bar where your service area is only 50ish square feet. She said, that's it for you guys, saying it like we were cut off after our first drink of the day and that we were to blame for this fiasco. Her initials were W.M. and I hope the Dr. that owns this establishment makes the right decision and releases this lady. From the reviews, it looks like others have had the same problem(s) with...

My Wife and I have been daily visiting this historic town for 30 years. We decided to visit for a weekend in a cottage to put us in walking distance of Front Street We had a wonderful time visiting all the businesses. While my Wife was in a shop I decided to grab a mid-day beer. Even though the patrons on the sidewalk were totally wasted and obnoxious just after lunch I walked in to grab a cold one. I stood and watched the bar tender if it applies, spend countless minutes opening a bottle of liquor. I waited as long as I could, then went to meet up with my wife. As I sat out on the bench between the businesses for her the display was definitely a sign of poor management: Finally in the evening I decided to give another chance for them to gain my patronage. I entered an empty bar with maybe 6-8 customers. The bar tender totally ignored me until his pee-on came back from smoke break to cover his slack from being sure to entertain his buddies. He didn’t even acknowledge me at all except to send his crony to tech me an overpriced beer. I informed them I had been in that bar long enough to drink 3 beers to just get one. As I walked out and guzzled it to get away from this desperate watering hole the guy yelled at me as I’m three blocks down “Where you going with that beer?” I told that jackhole the bottle was on his trash can. What a bunch of Jerks! Good Buy! Why does this town...

Okay short answer, me and my wife really loved this little place. We are visiting from Maryland and are definitely coming back the service was really good and they were wearing masks properly , they only had two people working during a rush and were really friendly and still made it through the orders really quick and the coffee was good, my wife and I liked that you could choose between different roasts I drink black coffee and it was really good had nice flavors wasn’t just flat black coffee, wasn’t the best but it was a nice surprise from a non specialty coffee place. Our breakfast was great I got the southwest burrito(the picture makes it look gross because I smushed it in the bag haha) and it was grilled which i have never seen before and it was amazing. My wife got the breakfast bagel and she really loved it.

Update: went again on a Thursday and had a different experience the food was still good wasn’t nearly as good as last time cheese wasn’t melted at all but it was still good just not like that first amazing time, which was cheese stretching for miles and perfect(maybe I’m picky 😂). And I’m sorry the coffee wasn’t good it was like gas station coffee, but I understand it’s easy to brew a pot completely different still giving 5 stars but I was disappointed since we are leaving...
