Was told I had to leave Parkdale because I was carrying my DSLR camera around... like we don't all have cameras on our phones š It's just a weird set-up. Half the mall is closed (literally a 1/3rd of the building is a Sears that's been closed for over a decade), and the other half feels like they're about to have a Going out of Business sale. And I checked the (nearly decade-old) policy that says "Photography or recordings of any kind without prior approval of shopping center management." And it just sounds like, so a dying mall doesn't want to show that it's empty inside? (Also, just a side note, there's a weirdo that circles the mall in a truck to intimidate people, and it feels racist) But on the positive side, at least since the mall is typically so empty, it makes for a great indoor walking place (just make sure not to have your phone camera out, apparently). AND a Spirit Halloween just opened (for the next few months) to replace the front facing store that recently left.
Update: Security said cell phone cameras are allowed, but not DSLR Cameras. I'm assuming he thought I was doing some kind of commercial shooting (I wasn't, and hadn't taken any pictures while walking through), but I also heard it was because the property owners didn't want to bring attention to the recent flooding that affected a fairly important section. *
All in all, I don't hate the mall though. Don't misunderstand, it's never been a great mall, and it hasn't even been "pretty good* for a while. But I've lived in the area for a long time, and it's what we have. I'm disappointed that it's at where it's at, but Parkdale is one of the few "Third Spaces" that Beaumont and some of the surrounding smaller towns has, so I don't want...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBeaumont mall is garbage now. Most of the stores are gone that i would visit. Not to mention they've added some (improperly applied) 30.06 signage.
30.06 and 30.07 signage has some very specific rules as to how it should be used, and where it should be placed. They do not have the lettering against contrasting colors, you can't even see itnuntil you've already almost committed an offense. Not to mention, most of the outlets do not uave the aignage on their doors creating a situatuon where you could walk into a store and not be in violation, because you never passed a sign, but still be behind a sign because the mall has the signs on their doors. The second you leave one of the unmarked stores and step into the mall hallway you are committing an offense when you haven't even been warned.
The arcade is gone, the knife store is gone, sears, jc penny, all gone as well.
The only stores left are over priced clothes stores, and cell phone shops.
I reccomend avoiding this place if you wanna keep...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUsually we enjoy the mall, but today was NOT the usual experience. My fiancĆ© went to our usual Asian restaurant in the food court and was just double checking if they cook the teriyaki chicken separately from the shrimp products (clean grill between food or separately). Heās highly allergic to seafood. But when he asked, a lady came from the back and told him no, they donāt, and that he would have to go somewhere else because they donāt āserve people like himā. Iām not sure what that means, but if it means people who are trying to not be killed by allergens while eating out then they ought to be ashamed of themselves. (This was the place toward the inside of the mall, not the place with the bourbon teriyaki.) While the mall itself is overall nice, I hope that all the stores and vendors can try to be more polite. Especially when it comes to...
