Had a blast! Today was my first time attempting rock climbing. I'm DEATHLY afraid of heights and only made it halfway up the wall. However, a really kind man named Dickie saw me struggling with my feet and overall technique and showed me a bunch of helpful tips! I was so grateful! A real sense of community here on my first day! I felt a little weak after trying a bunch of "bouldering" or crab walking I'm not sure what I was doing really but could definitely feel my forearms start to give out on me 😅 only pushed me to wanna come back and keep practicing! The front desk person (I accidentally forgot her name) was SO awesome! She cheered for me when I was trying to make it higher up the wall and pointed out helpful tips! She even spotted me on a different wall when I was afraid of falling past the crash pad! What makes this place truly standout is the community they seem to have. That to me out beats everything. The walls seemed well cared for and I loved the "rustic" type of feel of the place. Cool re-purposed van couches in the locker room were a really cool touch! Made me feel like I was at a friend's garage gym-really "home-y" and cozy! which I also prefer over large formal gym complexes. As a beginner- I felt VERY welcomed and not intimidated by the other climbers, I actually watched some of them work and admired their techniques! I only bought a day pass cuz it was my first time. But once I get a few more seshes In I'm DEFINITELY getting a monthly pass for this place!!! Best climbing...
Read moreI have had 2 bad experiences here now but didn't write a review until the second time. They are terrible with customer service. I brought a friend in who is newish to climbing but has only top-roped with belay bars. This person has bad anxiety and while lowering me for the first time, had what can only be described as a panic attack because of the difference in friction with the bolted hangers vs belay bars. We had been in the facility for less than 20 minutes including the 5 minutes that it took the owner to give my friend their belay test. My friend was too distraught to continue climbing so I had them go change and I went to talk to the owner. After describing the situation I asked the owner if I could get 2 return passes for another day and that I did not expect to get the few bucks back for the shoe rental. He stated that it is not their policy to give return passes. After a little back and forth between the two of us he said that he would give me a return pass and that's it. I left without getting anything because I was so pissed off. The owner has no emotional intelligence and is not a nice person to deal with. I recommend going to any climbing gym other than this one. I would give them zero stars if...
Read moreImportant notes, gri-gris only, no ATCs; color ratings, not numbers; no loose chalk. I wish I had known all that first.
I would give one of the newest staff, lexi, 5 stars, the other person working a 1, and the place/ policies get a slightly generous 3.
It was our first visit and will be our last, not the gym for us.
My wife and I have been climbing for 10 yrs, but we aren't a fan of grigris and haven't used them for years. Person doing our belay check pretty much heard that, said we weren't safe and could only boulder/ auto belay. Lexi stopped us on the way out, took the time to make sure we knew how to use the grigris, which are super easy for veteran climbers once you have 5 seconds to remember, and let us climb.
Facility doesn't have that many top rope walls without auto belay, and what they have is often too tight to use even half the ropes safely. Traverses are nice and super long, and the high ball bouldering was nice too. Definitely a...
