Sooooooo... okay. This corner in Beaverton... Allen and Lombard... this corner is a hint of what is happening to Portland. It's gone largely unnoticed by us native/long-time residents of this once beautiful and quirky city. While we were bitching about people that we didn't recognize standing in lines on 46 degree rainy days for some stupid ice cream made with salted cow sperm and yiddish oregano... while people, drawn here for tech jobs and green spaces stood in line for a meh donut shaped like a penis in a pink box as though a 12 year old brother and sister team had found their way into an excess of dough and cardboard... while our rents were tripling and the price of our coffee went from $.35 at Quality Pie to $4.25 everywhere... there was something good happening - and I think we just didn't notice. People that we want to move here were moving here. People that could bring us more than vegetarian pizza and hippy sandwiches with tea leaves and sunflowers in them were streaming into the area. While our best restaurants were being ripped down to promote progress in the form of condos and parking garages and the rest of them were being bought by restaurant conglomerates who would perfect a process that was best for their bottom line but not their chef's creativity, there were people moving here from all over the world. They settled in and drove all the newly transplanted Californians around or cut their damn shrubs or mowed their lawns or served them burgers or whatever they had to do... and some of those people saved their money and they opened up stores and restaurants that serve the people that would never stand in those stupid ass lines for some $6 cup of ice cream. Those people eat at Red Robin and Olive Garden and that disgusting cheesecake place that has popped up all over the world. Instead they opened up restaurants that would serve the people that we actually want here. On three corners of this intersection, there is a Peruvian restaurant, an Iraqi bakery, a Mexican super mercado with a bakery and "deli" inside, a real cantina around the corner. There it is.... the barter that has been executed on us for the growth we have endured. On this day I am headed to Lima... the Peruvian restaurant on the SW corner of this junction. I am greeted by a lovely woman who brings me two sauces - one very green and one beautifully orange. She brings nothing else... just sauces. I order a Peruvian beer and ask, "what am I supposed to do with these sauces?". She looks at me as though I had just asked how to drink a glass of water and responded with "you put it on bread, on rice... you put it on everything!" And then she brought me bread... she pointed to her favorite dishes on the extensive menu and taking her advice, I ordered the Arroz Con Mariscos (Peruvian Paella). Holy Balls of Satan!! It was beautiful in every way. The seafood was fresh. The shrimp, the squid, the mussels, the clams, the octopus, everything was cooked perfectly. I will definitely be here again and again. I want to eat every single thing they make. I want to go to every one of these establishments on this corner and spend every penny I make thanking them for moving to our city... I want to apologize that they had to move to Beaverton because the 23 year old trust fund kids and the 28 year old San Francisco start up jerks drove the price of homes up so high that our city center is becoming the burbs and our burbs are becoming the cultural center of our city. That's what's happening. I am going to try to stop fighting it and I am going to embrace it. I will eat at the restaurants on the outskirts of town.. .where the food is good and well-deserved profit from making good food goes to families and not corporations! ...

Wow, I'm so glad we stopped by here after our friend recommended this place. We came here on a weekday about an hour after they opened. The interior is clean, and that mural in the back caught my eye! It's a beautiful painting of Machu Pichu.
Service was quick and very helpful. The lady gave us suggestions, the most popular dishes: Ceviche, lomo saltado, and aji de gallina. There were three different types of ceviche dishes, so we went with the shrimp (camaron). The lomo saltado is a robe eye steak dishes with fries and rice. The aji de gallina is a creamy chicken dishes with potato and rice. The presentation with the ceviche was so nice!
The ceviche de camaron is a MUST! That powerful lemon sauce is so good and cuts through any fish taste, if you are not a fan of a seafood taste. I can see this appetizer frequently eaten during the summer, as it is very light and refreshing. Love the shrimp. It is served with huge corn kernels and corn nuts (?), and sweet potato. The sauce has a little bit of a kick to it if you eat some of the red pepper flakes. Whoa, I'm so glad I paired this dish with the aji de gallina because the creamy sauce helped put out the hot fire. I'm sensitive to any heat, unfortunately, like even pepper. The ceviche was absolutely excellent though.
The aji de gallina was a very creamy chicken dish with a scoop of rice; it is a comforting dish. The lomo saltado rib eye dish is delicious too. I can see why many order this. It's tasty with the fries. The meat is good quality not like other places where you have lots of grisel or fat, and it has good flavor (not dry). We loved all three of these dishes and plan to get them again along with something new.
Great Peruvian spot! The restroom is very clean. This place is a great find. There is ample parking in the lot. Nearby is a good tienda, La Nortena, if you are looking to pick up good tamales or Mexican...
Read moreIt was our first time here and let me tell you, it was totally worth a wait! The service was kind of slow but I don't blame them, the dining room was busy and there was only one server, but she was still amazing. She sat us as fast as she could, she dropped utensils and a menu and came back shortly after with a couple of salsas and amazing warm/soft bread, we ordered with her and she was on her way. We decided to go with: Calamares Fritos, Lomo Saltado, Pescado A Lo Lima ( I included pictures of the menu as well for descriptions of each dish). The Calamares Fritos, was amazing! It wasn't super chewy like most places, it was soft and crunchy and the salsa that it came with was also really good, they had onions and tomatoes with a piece of lettuce which was a great addition. The Lomo Saltado was interesting but really good, there was rice, with a steak like stir-fry, it had onions, tomatoes and fries ( you wouldn't think they would go together but it did and it was great!). Finally the Pescado A Lo Lima, its similar too a steamed fish you would get at a chinese food restaurant but totally different, it had a little spice you could barely notice, and there were clams, mussels, shrimp and some other yummy items. I would 10/10 recommend this place to someone wanting to try something new or for a...
