We took our neurodivergent child to a kids movie, How to Train Your Dragon. We sit in the back not to upset other patrons because he often reacts. The theater was 1/5 full and yet, someone near us complained about his commenting on the movie. Being on the spectrum, he wears ear protection at movies. He wanted to speak about the movie with us. He wasn’t being disruptive. Instead of finding any of the available seats in the theater, the only two adults sitting near us decided to complain to the staff. I can appreciate that they may have been disturbed but there were better ways to address an excited child. Regardless, what will keep us from going back to the Lincoln is the fuss that the management made, AT the seats. Instead of asking to speak to one of the adults privately, to address the complaint, he came with both guns blaring while we were sitting IN the theater . It was loud and traumatic enough to our son, that he couldn’t stay to finish the movie. We had to assure him that he didn’t “ruin” the movie the whole way home. We are both local and try to support local businesses. But, if you’re trying to save a few dollars compared to the big theaters, if you value customer service, or if you have children that want to be children, this may not be a...
Read moreThis theater is GREAT! They have first run movies for an awesome price!~ $5 Matinee, and I think an evening is only $7... Popcorn / Candy is even cheaper than other theaters in the area. OH! And let's not forget the "souvenir" cup. If you plan to see more than one movie at this theater... buy one! It's like $6 the first time... but then you get refills for $1 every time you come back!!! It's totally worth it.
The staff has always been friendly and helpful. Plus! You can get Abe's Gourmet Popcorn - YUM!!!
The picture and sound quality to me - is equal to that of any other theater. But, I'm not an expert. But it's fine for me and my mini!
As far as comfort - The main theater is Okay, it has cup holders in the arms. But it is an HISTORIC theater. It doesn't have the reclining seats, or the "cuddle seats" where the arms lift up. Some people may find it a bit uncomfortable. The two upstairs theaters... not so comfortable. no cup holders, no leg room. But (when we tend to go) they are not crowded so you can kinda make it work. One last thing... as others have said - You definitely want to go listen to the organist! It's...
Read moreThis historic landmark in downtown Belleville is a great place to catch a first run movie at a great price. Their concession prices cannot be beat and they are known for their popcorn featuring the option for real butter topping. Although there are technically 3 theaters in the building, 2 of the theaters are small and located upstairs. While the lower theater is very spacious, the upstairs theaters are cramped with very little leg room. There are no bathrooms upstairs. The steps to the second floor are steep and narrow. The upstairs theaters are not. handicapped accessible and present a challenge for older adults too. Choosing a seat can be a challenge in any of the theaters as many seats are broken and all of them are so worn, the seat padding disintegrated years ago. It definitely needs some renovation. It is in the main theater located downstairs that the patron is treated to the beauty that once was. Organ concerts are still offered in the main theater. The staff are wonderful and try to go out of their way to make your experience an...
