Love that they do walk-in nail trimming from 9AM-5PM! It comes in so handy, especially when working from home as someone who has meetings randomly interspersed throughout the day🄲 Service has always been fast and friendly and the store gives me a local community vibe which I love🄰 I always meet the nicest fellow pet parents there who exchange reassuring experiences or funny stories! We’re usually in and out in under 10 minutes, honestly even 5, so I don’t have to leave the store to randomly wander. Ambiance is what you’d expect of a groomers, sad dogs and happy dogs all around. Pricing wise, it’s $20 for a nail trim, an extra $5 for a paw shave, and I’ll tip 20%/$5 for a total of $30. My corgi has never let me trim his nails without a fight, despite every form of socialization and treats out there, so I’d rather spend the $30 and get things done as quick as possible for my sake and his! I’ve witnessed minor accidents like cuts happen before, which is normal with anxious animals, but the staff are always quick to address the issue, treat the animal, inform the owner, and let them know that should the pet need medical attention that they’ll foot the bill. Love seeing companies own up to their mistakes rather than hide it or gaslight customersšŸ‘šŸ» Pros: • they do walk in nail trimming 9AM-5PM! • best pricing I’ve found in the area so far ($20 for trimming, $5 for paw shaving) • plenty of parking spots • great location by a number of eateries and a Walmart should you want/need to grab something real quick or spend your time waiting elsewhere • friendly staff and customers🄰 • staff own up to their mistakesšŸ‘šŸ»

Been going here for over half a year with good results. However, we had a new person cut our 9month puppy's nails. Cut too short, was bleeding for a while, puppy was trembling and scared of nail cutting now. Other nails were also rough. The puppy was trembling afterwards and refused any treats. Before she'd be happy and whatnot. When we asked the person how the nail cutting went, they said it was fine. It was only when we checked outside after picking her up that we saw bleeding and the starch applied from the place. We pay for nail cutting since they usually do a good job. Why go to a professional salon when they do a worse job than at home. It also makes it harder to cut her nails due to the bad memory of the pain. Called to lodge a complaint, very apathetic response. The person who cut the nails too short said that they didn't see an issue and didn't bother to let us know until we checked. If that's how they treat pets, then it's sad. At the very least, we expect a good job if we paid $20+ for nail clipping. Save your time and money. Don't risk your dog's health here. They will hide any scratches, bruises, or cuts from you. All the nails are sharp, ragged, uneven, and just ruined now.

A year ago, I heard about Der Pet Haus from customers at a pet store who had their wonderfully groomed dogs there and I asked where they got them groomed. We moved from the Maryland/DC area and needed a groomer. So I made a trip to check it out, since I’d only used mobile grooming services prior. Jena, the woman who works the front desk, was super friendly and helpful. She got us scheduled and told us about the fast groom option so they wouldn’t have to stay all day. I’ve been very happy with the services - also bringing my other dogs in for walk in nail trims had been great too. My dogs get excited when we arrive and they can’t wait to go inside, a good clue in that my dogs feel safe and cared for by everyone at Der Pet Haus. It’s been a great business to work with and a happy change from some not so great or unreliable services in the Maryland/DC area where we moved from. Happy that Jena still kindly guides me too when I ask for local recommendations or taking on doing my dogs’ walk in nail trims. I very much appreciate her! Der Pet Haus is a true gem.

I had a very disappointing experience at this grooming place. I called the morning of my appointment to check if they had any walk-in availability for the day. Since it was a Friday, I made absolutely sure that they could accommodate my dog and handle everything I requested — bath, ear cleaning, nail trimming, and thorough brushing. I also made it very clear that my dog is highly sensitive to nail trimming due to past trauma and would require experienced handling. They assured me they could manage it.

I dropped my dog off and called at the time they had advised. They told me to come back in 20 minutes. I arrived with my toddler — we were both dressed up as we had plans afterward, assuming the grooming would be complete. However, not only was my dog not fully ready, but when they finally brought him out, he still had a significant amount of loose hair on him. My dog has an undercoat that sheds heavily twice a year, which is precisely why I brought him in for a thorough grooming.

At first, they tried to dismiss the visible hair, saying it was ā€œjust a little.ā€ When I gathered a handful to show them, the owner or manager immediately went to get a brush and started brushing him right there in the reception area — for 10 to 15 minutes — while hair flew everywhere. My child and I stood there surrounded by loose hair, completely defeating the purpose of taking him to a professional groomer to avoid this exact situation. Afterward, we had to go home and change before continuing with our plans.

To make matters worse, they informed me that my dog had scared a trainee — which makes me question why they assigned an inexperienced person despite my prior warning about his nail sensitivity. The nails were not trimmed, which I understand can happen if the dog is anxious. But his ears were still dirty, and he smelled terrible — I honestly doubt whether they even bathed him or just sprayed something on. I ended up having to bathe him, clean his ears, and trim his nails myself once we got home.

What was most appalling was that they still charged me the full price without any consideration for the incomplete service or the inconvenience caused. The manager/owner tried to offer some vague future accommodation, but then basically talked herself out of it in front of me, which was frankly awkward and unprofessional.

I don’t know if I was just the unlucky customer or if this is a common occurrence, but based on my experience, this was completely unfair. They did not provide the service as promised but still had no hesitation charging the...

My wife's experience, to which I attest to. My dog is changed, and not for the better:

I brought my Cairn Terrier Porter into Der Pet Haus as a new customer Friday, August 29, 2014 at approximate 10am. I was greeted by Taylor who would be grooming him. She asked me standard questions about the manner of grooming I requested and advised that he would be ready for pick up between 2-3pm. I advised that he had recently had fleas and his skin was sensitive due to recent treatment. She was confident in her ability to hand strip his coat and other standard grooming processes. I was not advised by Taylor or the employee who scheduled my appointment of the price for services.

I received a call at 3:11pm from Taylor advising me that Porter was ready for pickup. When I arrived she greeted me before bringing my dog out to the lobby. She advised that services were $130.00 and requested payment before I could see my dog. I was blown away by the cost and felt completely taken advantage of. We have never been charged more than $60.00 by competitors for the same services. I can't believe that the price of services was never mentioned by the employee who scheduled the appointment or Taylor until this point.

As she was processing the payment she mentioned that Porter did not like being groomed, that he bit at his lip causing bleeding and she did the 'best' she could on his face. After she brought him out, he was scared and anxious to leave. I had my two children and adult niece in the car waiting for me, so I didn't have a chance to really look him over until we got home. What I saw was astounding. He had patches of hair missing from his back. He was bleeding at the mouth with an exposed cut on his lower lip. Porter's skin is bright red from the grooming and sensitive to the touch. He completely recoils from us, which is uncharacteristic of him. As mentioned before, I am left feeling taken advantage of and completely disgusted.

I would never recommend Der Pet Haus and definitely will never take my pets...
