We booked a property through Arrived on Chamberlain St in Bend that was a great disappointment, as was the property management team's approach to addressing the problems.
Aside from the home's 20 yr old brown shag carpeting that harbored pet odors and the stains on the MBR comforter, the A/C unit stopped functioning a minimum of 3 times during our very hot 8 days in Bend. The first time the unit failed, it was early evening on a steamy hot day. All of the bedrooms are upstairs, so it was extremely uncomfortable to sleep. The next day, Arrived sent out one of their in-house maintenance people who merely climbed into the attic and reset the furnace. That got the unit working again, albeit with barely cool air coming from the vents.
The unit failed again a day or so later in the early evening. Once again, we experienced another uncomfortable night's rest. We called Arrived the next day and they sent an HVAC tech out late that afternoon. The tech added Freon to the system and told us that the unit was working too hard to cool the house with a dirty filter and inadequate Freon, thus causing the coils to freeze up. He also said that the 20 year old A/C unit was incapable of adequately cooling the house upstairs. He said that he would tell Arrived to replace the filter which was contributing to the problem.
A day or so later, the unit failed again. Arrived refused to send the HVAC tech out again, claiming that Freon had already been added to the system. They also never sent out anyone to replace the system filter. Instead, they offered to have a maintenance person install a downstairs window A/C unit and bring over a portable A/C unit that we could place in the MBR. I explained that the window unit would not address the excessive temps in the other two upstairs bedrooms, but she insisted that was the best she could do. I gave my permission for the maintenance person to enter if we were gone.
Upon returning to the home late in the afternoon, we found the window unit on the front porch along with the fan. I also received a message that stated the maintenance person didn't enter because we weren't there. Apparently, the person I spoke to never told maintenance we had granted permission to enter.
In a couple of my conversations with Arrived reps, I suggested that they should be offering us a credit for some of the $4000+ we were spending for the house for our 8 days. The suggestion fell on deaf ears, and no credit was offered, nor were any apologies made for the inconvenience nor the discomfort associated with the failures of the A/C system.
At the end of our stay, Arrived sent out an automated guest follow-up asking about our stay. I responded in detail with our disappointment, and again,...
Read moreTo preference we stayed in this beautiful home for almost two weeks. As much as I would love to give this home 5 stars, there were a couple things that I believe should be altered or fixed before giving a 5 star review.
As many have mentioned, the view from this location is BREATH taking. Words and pictures truly do not do it justice.
With that being said, when it comes to the interior of the home, things are a little out dated. Normally not an issue, however, small things like a slow draining sink in the master bathroom, to broken features on the stove top oven, are small things I would have expected to be “fixed”.
Might I also add, that upon arrival we were welcomed with an overflowing trash can from the previous renters, a dryer full of washed clean towels that we were then responsible for folding, and floors that had some strange sticky residue.
For the location and the price, I would have expected better maintenance/up keep. Base boards were filthy, and it appeared like our bed sheets were previously used with stains, etc. that easily were removed from a simple wash and dry.
The secondary bedroom had two beds, one of them not even being fully made, leaving another task for us to complete.
For garbage, initially upon arrival we only assumed we had one garbage can that filled quite quickly. We had reached out to the rental service multiple times asking it to be serviced (emptied) and at time did not respond until being followed up again via phone; again something we shouldn’t have to worry about on vacation. We then encountered two other trash cans, hidden behind the garage, that were also filled to the brim from the previous renters. After notifying the property management team, they finally helped empty all bins.
Communication from the arrived rental property management team was mediocre. Again, I would have expected better communication, cleanliness, and service considering the price and location.
I still would absolutely recommend this place to friends and family, with that being said, I would definitely warn any one of the prior issues we had. We hope our feedback helps others, and also gives an opportunity for the property management company...
Read moreThe unit itself is very comfortable, bright and pleasant, well laid out, nice view of golf course and beyond, comfy furniture/beds (though the bedding is a bit cheesy with some threadbare sheets), and has lots of air flow from ceiling fans and windows, very quiet (except for lots of lawn mowing/trimming maintenance which seems to occur several times a week). Has a good cold fridge, modern stove, good in-sink, garbage disposal, cool flat screen TVs with plenty of broadcast content, and wifi internet (not the best; slow oftentimes).
However, we found in many instances the unit poorly/cheaply equipped/maintained: For example, upon arrival we discovered many of the window cranks were inoperative, or loosely attached so that they fell off at the first attempt to open windows. In the master bathroom, the shower on/off mixer knob had fallen off which rendered that shower unusable. One early morning we were awakened by the room's screeching smoke alarm whose battery was failing. On another day a window screen fell off. On the plus side, the unit maintenance handyman was easy to contact and very quick to come over and make all repairs. (Thanks, guy!)
The kitchen was particularly disappointing: equipped with an aging and odd array of cheap, mismatched, poorly maintained cookware and crockery, including a variety of unappetizingly scratched/gouged or scorched teflon pans, various chipped dishes, cracked plastic glasses, a rice cooker that didn't work, dearth of plastic food storage containers, and unsharp knives. The dishwasher often had to be repeat-run in order to be effective, and did not dry dishes. The water/ice dispenser spigot on the fridge had not been cleaned well and showed the accumulation of surface mold. If you're not into cooking, the above would probably appear trivial; but if you like to cook, it's certainly going to bother you.
Overall, this is a great unit that needs a little...
