There's a massive concert venue next to this hotel but NO ONE TOLD US THIS. At some point in the evening, music starting BLARING and it was so loud that we couldn't watch TV in our room so we had to sit in silence and twiddle our thumbs. I went downstairs to speak to the front desk and a young woman began the gaslighting process. 1) She told me that you couldn't hear the music in our room. She said "no it's not possible to hear the music from that room" as though I was either lying or hallucinating. You couldn't be in the elevator or any floor without hearing a BOOMING drum and if you put your hand on any wall, it vibrated. 2) The girl told me that when I booked the hotel reservation, there was a yellow banner across the site regarding the concert venue. I told her that that wasn't true. She said - no, I promise you, there was a yellow banner. So I challenged the girl to go online and book a reservation at the same hotel for the following day. I did the same on the app. Lo and behold...there was no banner! She said "oh." 3) the woman refused to come up and hear the music because she wasn't allowed to leave the desk but again tried to convince me that I was making it up. So I had to come my partner come down and corroborate -- YES, THIS IS HAPPENING. 4) The woman told me that the only thing she could do was give us our money out and put us out on the street. There was nothing else she could do. This girl obviously had no skills or training in how to deal with problems. She also said things like "it's only on the songs where the bass and drums are playing." Ok -- so we're supposed to what, watch TV for 5 minutes and then sit and twiddle our thumbs while the drums are playing and then put the TV back on? We're supposed to be able to sleep for a little bit and then not be able to sleep? She also tried to convince us that it was happening all day. Um...what? We'd taken naps at like 5pm...the music didn't start until the concert started at 8pm. I think the funniest part about this was that there were TVs around the hotel that said "When you want to go straight to your room, it matters where you stay." The hotel literally told us "you'll have to wait until the concert ends or go to another hotel" (did I mention that it was 9:45pm at night and they were offering to throw us out on the streets?)...The following day, we spoke to the manager who apologized immediately and gave us 60% off our bill. Ok, fine, that was nice. but why does the hotel advertise "When you want to go straight to your room, it matters where you stay." Are they referring to a DIFFERENT hotel? Ok my final complaint is that the young woman helping us at the desk called me and my partner (both of us cisgender women) "guys" during the entire conversation. Something like "if you guys want us to refund you, we can't do that for you guys. But if you guys want to get another hotel, we can get you guys another hotel but we can't give you guys a refund. If you guys are saying you're hearing the music, we don't believe you guys." I asked her WHY she was referring to us as "guys" when we're female? Not sure why our identities are being erased at every turn. Would this same person go up to a group of men and ask, "How are you ladies finding the hotel? They would likely say "are you talking to us? We're not ladies." And yet, we have to be called "guys" because women are expected to be invisible. Just because our culture thinks that women should be subsumed into a gendered term that refers to men, and that we should just accept not being seen during our hotel visit, doesn't make it right. And for any response to this which states "but guys is a gender-netural term!" It is not. A good way to test this is to ask: "How many guys has Donald Trump dated?" None. Because he identifies as a straight man, and because "guys" means men. We shouldn't have to be invisible or misgendered at a hotel we're paying for. I did tell the front desk girl this and she starting yelling at me and then kept doing it. This experience was awful and almost ruined our...
Read moreDon't stay here! Maria the front desk lady gave us the wrong keys to the wrong room, on the wrong floor, than proceeded to accused my wife of misunderstanding the floor we were supposed to be on even though she wrote 200 on the key card fold. When I went down to get new keys made, she not only failed to take responsibility for the message up, she doubles down and then tells me I can't get the new cards for the correct room, on the correct floor, for my family becauso my name isn't on the room. After some back and forth, she says if I provide the address on the reservation that would suffice. I couldn't remember all of our old address from two years ago but I gave her the correct house number and street direction and because I forgot the street number, that wasn't good enough. I then remembered my ID has my old address on it as well as the same last name as my wife, so I show that to her, and guess what? She didn't like the way I was talking to her, because I called her out on her mess up and she goes and gets her manager. Thinking, clearly the manager would see she messed up with our room and refused to use common sense to ID me, but instead, the manager tells me its just policy and there wasn't anything she could accept to ID me. So basically, Maria messed up again saying she could use my address, either that or, the Assistant General Manger Kristina didn't like me making her employee look dumb, so she wasn't going to accept any form of ID. Long story short, we got refunded and we went to The Hilton where we were originally supposed to stay and where we stay at every year! Its two minutes away from this trashy place! The Hilton, where they know hospitality and respect for the people who spend money with them! Don't give this...
Read moreFirst, we have stayed at this particular Hampton Inn several times before, from when it opened. Always a good experience before. This time we checked in about 7pm. Two days prior to our arrival, we called Hampton Reservations and changed the date of our ONE NIGHT STAY. At check-in they had us booked for two nights, but we resolved that. Next, there were NO LUGGAGE CARTS in the lobby. I asked the receptionist if guests were keeping them in their rooms, and the receptionist said something like "probably" - and sort of shrugged it off. So we carried our stuff up to our room in two trips. We had already stayed at three other Hampton Inns on this trip (within the previous week) and carts were always available. The ice machine was out of order on our floor, but worked on the floor above. The hotel phone did not work so we used our cell phone to call the front desk. They did not know what was up with the phone - not good if there is an emergency. Our Room on the second floor faced (west) looking into the back of an adjacent building about 10 feet away - the hotel was apparently booked up, so I didnt ask for a new room. The next morning luggage carts were available - but I told the front desk they should put up a sign asking guests to return the cars to the lobby when done, or buy more. She said they only have four carts for 100 plus rooms- And again sort of shrugged off the issue. This Hampton Inn was $50 to $60 more than the other Hampton Inn's we stayed at that week - at Boise, Carson City, and Reno. At a cost of $291 a night this hotel is far ,too expensive for the...
