Always stay at the Riverhouse in Bend every year for last 10 years . But this time was not the best . So our room and our friends rooms were both dirty . Hers had dirt chunks in her shower and ours had orange mold in shower and black mold large area on floor of shower - clean area had white grout so was sorta gross . Her room also had large pet fur white on carpet . The entry into our room was super sticky . Room smelled heavily like wood varnish too. Our - Room was super noisy - Our AC sounded like a jet engine and kept me up all night - Bend was hot like 97 so not really an option to turn off. So for $400-$500 a night with 2 night minimum I’d expect better and also would expect shampoo and amenities and room cleaned and restocked, which I had asked for . There was not a laundry bag in closet . I’m my room the water bottles had been previously opened so we did not drink them .
Texted hotel about friends room and they chose to ignore issue .
We always enjoyed the Currents restaurant at this location . However - this time it was not good at all. First night we ordered dinner and they forgot to bring my dinner for party of 5. Guy said he’d add it after and hour and it still never came . Was risotto . We had a side of carrots and in description sounded like normal side of carrots but in small print they called spice some foreign name - server said an African spice - and they were beyond super super spicy and I’m allergic to capsaicin and was not clear in description you were putting this fire in your mouth . So ended up on benedryl that night and throat swelled and got a rash . And no dinner to boot . Insert sad face …
Then we always came for the Brie cake appetizer which was now taken off the menu . It was unique and very good and one reason we stay at this hotel every year. I get it things change .
So breakfast - ugh . Ok no more oatmeal on menu; which was really good , and had dried cherries and hazels nuts . Most everything on breakfast menu had high fat which I can’t eat . Not even bagel with cream cheese as a breakfast option .
Ordered coffee and silverware came pre wrapped but no one had spoons . Asked guy for spoons and also normal sugar as ours was empty - 20 min later he comes back with large soup spoons and 2 packets of brown sugar . Asked for spoons for my formers coffee and they never got it .
Asked waitress where the historic log cabin across creek on property went as it was missing and she didn’t know . It was there last year and was from pioneer days in 1900’s with historical marker on past . But one would think that since it was a site attraction they might know or ask for us .
Anyhow was not great this round and for the money about $1800 not enjoyable at all . Ihad room booked for multiple days and ended up checking our early and moving to hotel...
Read moreI had to go out of town for work in bend and brought my wife and son with me. Needless to say we won’t be staying here again. Our room was in the back across the River at door B. We had a late arrival and when we walked in, we were greeted by ants and bugs at the entry door. The staircase to level 2 was stained with mud and dirt and our initial reaction was pretty gross and displeasing but it was late and we were tired. The room was spacious but carpets were stained and pretty rough and the most recent update to the room included a flat screen TV. Everything else was what you would expect at an upgraded room at a motel 6. The bathroom was cleaned poorly and the bathtub had dirt inside of it and on the rim of the tub. The toilet had stains from previous tenements and there was only 1 partial roll of toilet paper available. After cleaning the tub out I noticed here was also a dirty towel under the sink. We’re it not 10pm and if we didn’t have our 19 month old with us, we would have stayed elsewhere. To make matter worse the walls are so thin and poorly designed that my 28 lb son running back and fourth in the room was enough to bother the neighbors who called and complained of the noise. To be fair to them he was laughing pretty hard as he ran back and fourth. Although I question the complaints one would get if they were on a honeymoon….
The next day while I was at work my wife went to their restaurant for lunch and waited at the table for 40 minutes before being waited on. The waitress excused herself for how busy she was and apologized for the wait which was confusing because only 3 tables in the restaurant had customers, and there were 5 waitresses available. She ordered her food to go and waited 30 minuets for her breakfast platter. Upon getting back to her room my wife noticed the waitress did not provide utensils for her food so my wife called the front desk and requested towels and utensils, which never arrived. She called back 3 hours to request towels again and received them an hour later.
My wife called me at work and asked if we could switch hotels for our second night but my work already paid for the room and all other hotels were booked up so we were forced to stay another night. Needless to say for $310 a night it was probably the worst stay we...
Read moreWe had no idea the property was under construction. So getting in and around was almost impossible with our vehicle. Parking by are room was a nightmare. There was one spot left and it was tight. Now lets get to the nitty gritty of the night. The AC didn't work in our room. Set at 66 was 73+ At 930pm, we.called for maintenance and the guy, very nice came in about 30mins or so and tried to fix it. He couldn't. So he gave us the tiniest of fans. Let it be known we had a two queen with twin beds over them room. So its fairly big room with 6 of us. That little fan wasn't going to do anything. Even the maintenance guy said he was going to call the front desk and see what they can do about some sort compensation in the morning. He knew it was bad... like come on. Couldn't keep open the patio door being on the bottom floor That night we all sweated and Im normally a cold person and can deal but nope, me, my husband, was soaked and my kids were soaked. The filter also in the unit was disgusting and the maintenance guy did put it back in after we took it out btw and didnt clean it. To top it all off the bathroom door didnt lock. The only positives were the beds were nice, room was clean. I picked this place thinking it would have nice views and etc in Bend. Nope. In the morning we asked about some sort of compensation since we went through expdiea the front desk lady said I quote "cant refund you the whole room cause of 3rd party." She gave us the 30$ resort fee but then told us to call Expedia to handle more. I did and then the hotel said the resort fee was enough for the AC not working. Umm what? I didnt even want the whole room comp, but for how much that room was they could have done something more considering how uncomfortable it was. It wasn’t a cheap little place it was a " resort" . Didnt help the people at the front desk acted like they didnt care and were snooty especially when I mentioned they needed to have the filters cleaned. The maintenance guy is the only one that was nice around there. He tried at least. Guess river doesnt care about there pillows being...
