We love this hotel, but their restaurant...
We get to the restaurant and are seated quickly. The three of us are two adults and one 6 year old. No kids menu offered. We sit and wait for maybe 5 minutes for water to come to the table. We are encouraged to go get our own coffee from a coffee station at the bar. We wait another 10 mins and we get to put in our order.
At this point we are 15 minutes into our experience and see that they have crayons at the seating station and I wait 5 minutes to see if anyone would get the crayons and hopefully something to draw on. Nothing. So I help myself to crayons and move through the menus looking for the kids menu, which eventually gets an snippy "SIR, what are you doing", "I am looking for kids menus to draw on". She hands them to me and storms off.
We now have kids menu in hand and see that the kids waffle comes with strawberries and whipped cream. This is not how the adult version is sold so we let the waiter know that we do not want those things on the waffle. So we wait. This is a good time to mention the rest of our order; Eggs Benedict Flat iron steak with over medium eggs
We watch several other tables that came in long after us get their food.
We wait another 20 minutes.
Our food comes, yay. Waffle fruit and whip on top. BOO Steak and scrambled eggs. Wait didn't I order over medium? BOOO. Oh well. Lets just eat them. ICE COLD. How long has our food been sitting? Anyone else have a problem? Oh Egg's Benedict, YAY. ICE COLD as well.
5 minutes goes by before we can ask someone (and I had ventured out but they were busy with other customers, tried to not bother them, but we do need this fixed). They take the feedback on the food and offer to remake the waffle, and bring over medium eggs and remake the Eggs Benedict.
They remake waffle. Yay They bring out hot over medium eggs. Yay And bring back the same Eggs Benedict plate that went into the kitchen. Including the cut bite which alerted us to the food temperature. Parts of it are hot, parts are cold. Yep tossed into the microwave, not remade.
Waiter comes back and inquires why are you not eating it. We let him know it was microwaved. He said no we dont do that. Asked how the same pre-cut bite was still on the plate.
The restaurant manager comes over. We explain again what happened and they insist again they would never do that, that there are strict rules etc. We explain again that is seems strange that the same bite was cut and left on the plate on the returned meal. She says "we would never do that... There are very strict rules" Yep, but they did...
This was a pretty bad experience which took WAY too long to be wrong for everyone in our group.
We believe they cut our quality because we prepaid for the meal with a hotel package and they take care of the "paying" guests differently. These meals were, on average $17 each and we always tip on value, not cost. This was a really...
Read moreWe had high expectations for the service at this place but it failed right at the front line with a terrible hostess. We had a reservation made hours prior for a table outside. When we arrived the hostess told us it would be about 20 mins; which was fine with us. We sat down by the bar where we were still visible to her. We saw a few people leave the patio area and a couple of tables get cleared outside, so we relocated right by the hostess station and we watched the same hostess greet a family who was just getting there and sit them all outside right away. My wife approached the hostess about the mishap. She seemed surprised by my wife reminding her that we had a reservation. But instead of apologizing to us she kept walking and said in a rude tone “well they had called”. I wasn’t sure how that could be a good explanation. We had a reservation, we showed up on time, and someone who arrived either without a reservation or late for their reservation, got seated before us. When I followed her to her station and tried to reminded her that we had a reservation and we had been there on time, she quickly said to me with a smirk on her face “I’ll just sit you on the other table that opened up outside.” No apologies. She then sat us at a dirty table. When my wife asked her if she could have the table cleaned, she ignored her, and then grabbed a rag and went to clean another table in front of us wearing a smirk on her face. I had to nicely ask our waitress to speak with the manager. The manager was the first to apologize and he had to come clean the table himself. However, he also did not offer anything else as a way to make the experience better for us. In the end we enjoyed our dinner as a family, but the event put a kink in our evening. The food was decent but nothing extraordinary. We were staying at the hotel that this restaurant is part of and this experience was disappointing given that hotels typically know more about hospitality than other places. Whoever runs this restaurant makes a big mistake in hiring a young, inexperienced person with a poor attitude for servicing the hostess spot, and that’s putting it nicely. I actually felt there might have been an element of racial discrimination at play with the hostess attitude towards us. I can’t prove it, but it sure felt upsetting to see a completely white caucasian family get seated in front of a mixed race family like us. The smirk on the hostess’ face while doing it made me think that she might have been enjoying it somehow and that it might have been based on race. Putting that aside though, just being treated the way we were treated while patronizing this restaurant and hotel was enough to give this place just a couple of stars. One star for the decent food and one for the atmosphere. I wouldn’t recommend this place. For reference, we visited around the 4th of...
Read moreHad a server that was supposed to wait on us but went to everyone else on several other tables and came to us once. Possibly twice to confirm our drinks after I had to go to the bar and ask for our drinks. The bar tender brought us our drinks. She only really came up to get our food order which took along time because she was going to the other tables to check on at least 3 times in front of my face. We were told they were busy and short staffed but yet not getting the service as most of the other customers were getting. Not sure why but I can take a guess. My last name is Lopez so you all can take a guess. I made a complaint to the manager and they wanted to compensate the meal. We are not like that so we paid but we just wanted for her attitude to be corrected as we are not those types of people.
We worked here before and prior to new management we never felt this type of disrespect. Management made us feel as though he’s never had this type of issue with this employee. This girl was not nice and was very short and definitely not a sincere person. I understand that we each go through things, but when doing a job we’re supposed to keep our personal issues at home. We are supposed to give the upmost best service no matter what the job is and the lack of trust in my word as a customer was insulting and hopefully nobody else has to go through this again. I am hoping that management can actually have the skills to teach their employees how to treat all customers of all ethnicities there because I’ve never felt so disrespected. It was Mother’s Day and this is the last thing I wanted my mother to experience.
We got there at 7:00 and because of the lack of service so to speak, we didn’t get out of there till about close to 9:00. We only had two drinks and minimal amount of food. I hope that this tells everyone how long we should’ve been there truly if we would’ve had decent service. We also never got our server to bring us the bill or ask us if we were done with our food we had to go up to them to get boxes and our check. Otherwise we probably would’ve gotten out of there at 9:30 so at that point I went to speak to the manager. I think that should speak volumes. Our stay was amazing but the restaurant service not so amazing in fact quite the opposite.
I hate having to write this but the amount of disappointment especially after being employed here previously and never being made to feel this way. I...
