I typically don't leave bad reviews of an establishment, and if you look at my history you will see that 90% are great reviews. I only leave bad reviews if my experience was exceptionally unsatisfactory.
I was brought here by friends, and had I come on my own accord I would have just left without ordering immediately upon arrival.
The first red flag was that the barista girl was incredibly rude when our group tried to order some baked goods prior to being seated. Maybe we were breaking protocol, but the group who brought me are locals and insisted that it was a standard affair to order baked goods or drinks while waiting for a table.
We were finally seated, and the outdoor tent area was literally like 80 degrees and stuffy. We had to ask to turn the heater down, and the server girl was so relieved that someone finally asked. It was disgustingly hot.
I got a menu and was shocked at the prices. I got biscuits and gravy, which was like $18 for two biscuits with gravy that had very little sausage in it, and some cubed potatoes. You had to pay $5 extra for bacon or sausage, and $3.50 for two eggs! I didn't get extra meat, but asked if I could do one egg. It was like $13 for a kids pancake, and I had to pay like $5 for two pieces of bacon. The baked goods didn't have prices, but my daughter wanted a brownie, which I realized was almost $6 once we got the check. The most shocking thing after all of this was that my single egg was $3.25 when it was supposed to be $3.50 for two. Like what the actual f$&!?
The food was mid. Especially in relation to the exorbitant prices. It just felt like a yuppy paradise where price gouging is a standard affair, but we are in Bend after all. Oregon's capital of gentrification.
Overall the experience was extremely disappointing. Breakfast food has some of the highest margins in the food industry. Probably second to pizza, so it's pretty gross to see such blatant upcharging. My bill ended up being $40 for a child and one adult. I know that's kind of standard in Bend, but for breakfast!? That's ridiculous. I will not return...
Read moreMy sister was SO right about mapping this place anytime slightly close by! I just happened to be in walking distance when I mapped it, lucky me! A cozy quaint cottage setting, serving breakfast & lunch only, and offering hot beverages to anyone having to wait outside in the cold weather for inside seating. They made a nice little set up to make it as comfortable as possible. If you wait inside you are forced to drool as they pass you with food going out to tables and the display case taunting you with delectable treats! Good luck picking one item from the menu, so I ate one while there, took one to-go (do always check to-go orders anywhere as I almost missed out on the fresh fruit topping not put in the bag), and then I inevitably ordered again the next day. However, I made the mistake of trying to use the DoorDash service that was attached to the maps info. They are not set up with the restaurant and the menu listed is years old! I went through a fiasco trying to order, and ended up calling in my order (how I found out the service was not affiliated or set up with the restaurant) and walked over in the freezing weather desperate for my order. The staff was super sweet and apologetic and blessed me with a yummy bonus scone for my efforts. I have asked maps to remove this service. It's worth going in, or picking it up to-go even if you have to walk in the snow in almost single digit temps! It's that good!! Not to mention the STELLAR service all around! My waitress was very experienced and great at her job and made my 1st time exceptional! Thank you, thank you for service and food that excels the...
Read moreThis morning my wife and I had to take a car in for routine maintenance @the dealer, and we stopped in here for breakfast, about 8:15 am. What a nice place! First, it was raining - yes, tell me about it - cra cra I know! Because its August and was 95° yesterday! Gotta love Central Oregon! Anyway, since this place is popular due to the creative menu and local ingredients, it was busy. We opted to sit outside, because they have a huge covered area that's watertight, and it wasn't cold. But since we sat outside, we waited about 8 minutes longer than 2 couples that came after us that wanted inside. But its definitely worth the wait (15 minutes total) because its pretty outside, and nature is awesome. The waiting area is covered with shade sails, and there is a self-serve water and drip coffee station. Also, a young gentleman came out to us waiting and asked each person if they needed a blanket or wanted something else to drink other than the station offerings. One fellow that was there on his anniversary ordered a bloody mary, and they had it to him quick, complete with a little garden on top. My wife got the stuffed french toast ($16 + $3 for bananas and a side of scrambled eggs $3). I got the carnitas scramble ($22) that comes with a jalapeno cheddar scone. Neither of us could finish our meals, and they were both delicious. Justin was our server, and he was very cordial, fast and attentive, and helped me decide netween the scramble or the lava omelette. We didn't get a chance to check the bathrooms, but bussers were sanitizing the tables AND chairs in between...
