I like to go to the Blacksburg Farmers Market on Saturday mornings starting in July, when the local fresh peaches begin to arrive. Great place to meet up! I’m a fan of Patrick County Virginia Peaches, and they are typically sold at roadside near Stuart, Virginia. Peaches don’t travel or keep well, and their immediate use/consumption is the rule. Obviously, a Farmers Market is a magnet for us Baby Boomers who still have a streak of Hippie forever in our hearts! Our greatest value is to remember that we are creative artists, and although a great set of legs may look good, our ability to improvise, adapt and innovate is what will continue to attract followers. If we stay focused with a positive attitude, we hope that we get that totally unexpected good word in, and if we’re really lucky, someone who recognizes our dues paid finally tosses us that bone. When we get that chance to play our guitar, we have to keep hearing them talk about it for at least a year! The Farmers Market is all about the Holistic Overall Approach to the Difficult to Define challenges of moving forward into the future. When faced with a confusing situation - remember that the first step is to try to define the major issues. There are likely common elements running through it: Auto-immune disorders are related, and can present with a wide array of physiological and neurological/psychiatric issues. The common knowledge chicken soup approach would tend to be a safe bet here: fresh air, diet, address critical problems, common knowledge measures, avoid coughs and colds, stay away from stress, positive attitude, watch your glucose. The Farmers Market wisdom by osmosis could also be applied to other challenges that face us all. Word...
Read moreGreat community event that offers lots of amazing crafted foods, drinks and goodies made from scratch. I had the pleasure to taste and purchase some kombucha, hand and heart(meaning lots of love added or made with love...) baked oatmeal cookie treats. Just lots of great Great stuff. The farmers, vendors, and event staff work exceptionally hard to make this a great program and an overall joyous and fulling experience for all it's patrons. I need to get honey next time tho. I missed it cause I bought coffee...
Read moreI love that this place is here for all our local Blacksburg citizens, the area is really open. They have a large enough yard for a small band for everyone to enjoy while you shop for fresh fruits and vegetables from the local farms. They have many nice shops here from bread, handmade pasta, jams and kabucha if you are into that. You can order food here that's made in front of you. You'll always walkout with something and enjoy it. Nothing is expensive but you do need to pay for parking...
