Good shop, good ice cream, and good service just have my gripes. Hot chocolates are overpriced and tasteless and they don’t offer 2% milk; only whole and oat milk which I think is nasty and many other people that I’ve gone here with think so as well. They have plenty of whole milk might as well pick up a bottle of 2% while they’re at it. I’ve been a regular since they opened as well and have only seen the owners in once….the one time I saw them was opening day. I have gone in when they appear to be very understaffed and have to wait in a long line to get my ice cream due to it being understaffed and I look at the ice cream scooper and just am like where are the owners?????? The place I work at we don’t have this problem. If were understaffed someone calls out the owners show up boom just like that. Also i can’t get milkshakes anymore because the whole milk makes me sick and I need 2% so I have to just get scoops instead which is disappointing. Aside from that ok ice cream at an overpriced rate and don’t even think about the hot chocolate. Again I have been a regular since day one and they are the only ok I’ve cream shop in town besides dq but that’s in Christiansburg but they have a way better product at a way better price. And at least Dairy Queen has hot fudge, what ice cream place doesn’t have that???? I love ice cream and it’s a shame I have asked employees in the past why they don’t use 2% and they say it’s because the ”whole milk makes it creamier” and that any other milk could leave a “metallic taste” according to the owners. To that I ask the owners have you ever made a milkshake before?????? When I make my milkshakes at home and I have a very similar machine to what this store has I don’t get a metallic taste in my ice cream. I’ve been to California, Florida, Colorado, and CANADA. And I have gotten 2% milk in my milkshakes across the United States and have never noticed a metallic taste....
Read moreWe do LOVE a good ice cream shoppe. And baby this is it right here if you're in downtown Blacksburg or the vicinity. It's worth the occasional hassle of finding parking. (But don't park in the post office lot no matter how inviting it may look...they actually do tow. We parked in there recently along with several others and happened to be sitting in the car when the tow truck driver arrived, much to our surprise.) But back to the ice cream...it is definitely worth the extra couple of pounds you'll gain from it. There aren't words. And they even offer pup cups. And a few tables outside to enjoy your sweet treat with or without your let. What I love most about this shoppe, aside from the fact that it never fails to satisfy my ice cream cravings, is that it is the cutest little shoppe inside a shoppe. They have great stuff to look at and buy while you're eating your ice cream including Harry Potter and other assorted puzzles, lots of "classy" Blacksburg and VT things including some jewelry, scented candles, unique cards, stuff for the bride, all sorts of different things some of which change every couple of months. We always find stuff we want to buy while we're in there eating our ice cream and rarely do we leave empty handed. It's a definite don't miss while you're in Blacksburg or visiting Virginia Tech. And it's right on Main Street downtown so it's easy to find. Enjoy! And have a scoop...
