Coco Chen — Attraction in Boston

This review is long overdue, but I went to Coco Chen in late December of 2022 for the first time. The last photo was my before pic and the two photos before that were my inspo pics. I wanted to go blonde-ish, but didn’t want to commit to the whole look. The idea was to do some sort of bayalage/highlights with money pieces and an under layer peekaboo (that’s a mouthful fs)

Long was my hairdresser and I was there for a good 6 hours or more which is to be expected. I had reallyyy long and fine virgin hair with outgrown layers. I asked for a cut with curtain bangs and a lot of layers in general. The outcome is kinda like a long wolf cut when unstyled. I really love curling my hair now☻

I genuinely love the results, but I have sm split ends as a result 🥲 It’s to be expected after the dye. Long did exactly what I had hoped for and added brown coloring all over my head to tone my blonde pieces and dye my natural hair a warm brown. I feel like this new look kinda washes me out, but I’ll try something different next time. I just wish that he bleached my hair closer to my roots especially for my peekaboo hair so it transitions better when I put my hair up. Some of the bleaching was uneven as well, but it’s unbeatable at this price. The total came out to be $275 before tip and this is unheard of else where.

They were flexible with changing my appointment due to my variable work schedule. I feel like the stylists took care into cutting my thick, coarse long hair to give it layers and were friendly/ polite. My last cut from a different salon was a donation. My hair feels so light now. (Before and After pics).

Update: pretty much same story as last year. I had been wanting a haircut, but had to wait until I had some free time in my schedule. One of my students short notice canceled and Coco Chen were able to accommodate me on short notice and they did a great job that made me happy. I don’t live super close anymore so it requires more planning to come, but I feel it...

Long is awesome. I have been his customer for many years but He always knows what and how I want to get my hair done. Just show and tell him what you like, he def knows the idea from there. Protect your hair from damage is his top priority, he will let you know and communication before he put the work. I’m really obsessed the outcome every time I come to see him. Flexible appointment if you ask him first....
