Three of us made a reservation at 4:15 on Sunday afternoon for a pre-concert dinner. It was a very warm day (101) and when we arrived, the hostess asked if we’d like outside or inside. All of us being seniors, we requested inside. Even though the restaurant was empty, The young lady escorted us to a two-top table, located next to the bathroom hallway and the the pizza oven, in the hottest section of the restaurant. She added a chair and promptly left.
Our server, Matt, was friendly and congenial, but incompetent. It started by him serving room temperature water and Pellegrini, and when we asked for ice he brought a plastic pitcher full of ice with no utensil for us to use. We ordered bruschetta for the table as a starter, and what he brought was one piece of packaged ciabatta covered with avocado, some cheese and tomato, red onion and a sickly sweet Chinese chili sauce, along with a knife for us to cut it. Shortly thereafter, he brought some house made bread (actually pretty good) and when he could find a spot to set it down, he plopped the basket down on a plate where a dining companion was just finishing her portion of the bruschetta.
I ordered a romaine /Gorgonzola salad, which came with wilted lettuce leaves, very little Gorgonzola, and a drizzle of balsamic reduction…not as advertised. Before I could finish the salad, the entrees arrived, and again Matt was at a loss for how to serve. He literally handed the plate, across the table, to a dining companion, and tried to shove my entree into the table next to the salad plate before I asked him to remove it. My pasta (pappardelle, which I love) was tasteless, and the bowl had at least a quarter cup of water and olive oil pooled at the bottom. Horrid.
But, worst of all was that by now all three of us were sweating, and were annoyed that we remained the ONLY patrons in the place, but yet had been seated in what is traditionally the worst table in any restaurant. I asked Matt for the bill and to speak to the manager.
A young man, who identified himself as “Mathew” and the manager, came and asked if we wanted to,speak with him. I politely explained my displeasure with the seating, and the first words out of his mouth were “well, next time tell us an we will move you.” Having owned three successful restaurants in the Napa Valley, if I had heard that response from a “manager” or any employee to a customer complaint, I would have fired them on the spot. Needless to say, I will never go back, nor will I ever recommend their establishment to...
Read moreWe went there over the weekend for my birthday, I would have to say that is was an awful experience. The host sat us down quickly, and she was nice. However, all the good things to say about the restaurant stop there. We were sat at the seat near the water fountain, which is an awful place for a table. Extremely unsanitary. The waiter didn't come by for at least 10 minutes, once he did, all he said asked was if we were ready to order, we said we weren't so he left. He also didn't bring the water or bread for quite a long time after thing. At the time we were, he was no where to be found. My SO was getting annoyed by the water splashing so we asked to move, and to which he responded that he would need to ask the host. Which is reasonable, but it shouldn't have taken more than two minutes tops. He was gone for at least seven. And there were several open tables. He came back eventually and moved us to another location. And we ordered our meal. The food came out very fast compared to the rest of the night. However, my SO could hardly eat his meal literally ate less than a quarter of it. It was undercooked and way to over seasoned. The worst thing about the while night, however, was the fact that after we were finished eating, or pushing the food around our plates, no one talked to us for at twenty minutes. The couple next to us who were sat after we moved had the food, drinks, and paid out before we were talked to again. And they had the same waiter. The person who talked to us after the fact, was not our waiter. She was serving across the restaurant. We were there for nearly two hours and not once did we feel it was worth it. The food was way to overpriced for the quality. It was well decorated and eye catching, but that is where the niceties end. I would not come back or even recommend people to this restaurant to people. If there was a 0 star rating, this would qualify. Absolutely horrendous. Definitely not a good place to...
Read moreFall fest was taking place. We had purchased some bottled sodas (2 sealed bottles & 1 open) and had a bag of other purchased items. When we walked in the hostess informed us that we could not have outside beverages in the restaurant. She made us relinquish the open bottle of soda for her to throw away and informed us that she would speak to the manager for approval to have our unopened bottles with us. I understand this rule, but the two tables next to us both clearly had opened bottles of outside beverages, one being a bottle of Canada Dry Ginger Ale. Nothing was said to either of these parties about outside beverages not being allowed, but our open bottle was taken from us to discard. Only difference we could see is that the 6 of us are covered in tattoos.
2nd, we were given room temperature water to drink with no ice. Not very refreshing for a hot day enjoying a festival with a large crowd of people.
Finally, food was extremely over priced and poor quality. Gnocchi was very undercooked and doughy. Penne pasta with chicken and broccoli included LOTS of spinach, only broccoli stems and no visible chicken. Lasagna - the red sauce was sweet. My neice has Spaghetti alfredo that tasted so different that she refused to eat any of it after the first bite.
$200 and none of the 7 of us finished a dish. So...
