I had very high hopes for this salon especially after seeing the perfect reviews. Iāve always had trust issues with salons. My experience was not like everyone elseās unfortunately.
I called this salon weeks in advance, explaining I have a lot of thick, frizzy, curly hair and was looking for a simple hair straightening with a flat iron to make my day easier without having to worry about doing my hair, as I was already stressed about leaving for a trip that evening. I also mentioned I have a hand injury, which made doing my own hair difficult. I was told Iād be taken care of. The stylist, Reese, was specifically recommended by Tamee.
When I arrived, things quickly felt off. Reese seemed irritated the moment she saw my hair (a lot of frizzy curly hair). Before the day of the appointment, I noticed she slotted me for the 45 minutes which I thought was not enough time because I take about 2 hours straightening my own hair but I figured maybe she had her quick ways so I never said anything about it prior to the appointment. She had to extend my 45-minute appointment to 4 hours, which could have been avoided had the booking been done properly based on what I shared during my original call. Also, Instead of clarifying the service, she asked if I wanted āBrazilian or keratin.ā I assumed she was asking about a heat protectant serum. I donāt have much knowledge on hair treatments. I didnāt know I was agreeing to a semi-permanent treatment. I never asked for a Brazilian blowout, just a wash and straightening.
What followed was a rushed service that left my hair brittle, uneven, and much more damaged than before. I left the salon in tears, my hair looked like Iād been electrocuted. I was leaving to Oregon that same evening and didnāt have time to return, even though they offered to āfixā it the same day.
Reese later admitted to my husband (who called for me after seeing my disappointment) she rushed it but quickly after she said she thought I was in pain from my hand injury and thatās why she rushed āwhich I never mentioned during the appointment. I only mentioned the limited grip my hand had. The worst part? I had to spend another $280 at another salon to fix the damage. I trusted this salon after calling seven others, and Iām incredibly disappointed. I left with worse hair, a heavier bill, and unnecessary stress. I hope this salon will use my review as a reminder that clear communication, realistic booking, and patience with clients matterāespecially when someone comes in already vulnerable and just trying to feel confident. Even after seeing how she left it and being so disappointed I still left Reese a $20 tip for her troubles which I regretted after learning she rushed the entire thing. I know I should of said something, but already spending $270 when I intended to only spend less than $100, I just wanted to go home and cry.
I will say aside from my experience, the people are kind and the atmosphere is nice. Maybe I was just unlucky that day but I was truly excited for my appointment as I saw all the amazing reviews. I hope this gets resolved so it doesnāt...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAlright people, let's talk personal care. It's vulnerable and...you guessed it, personal. What kind of review is this? Stick with me. I wasn't one to talk about my skin care routine. I was super embarrassed by the little knowledge I had, and taking my lessons off tik tok. Finally, I said enough is enough. I'm young and need to invest more into my skincare than I do makeup. Becoming a client of Mokara's Master Aesthetician, McKae, I learned confidence, and peace within my skin journey. She recognizes that every human is different, and takes her time to customize a holistic and clean treatment for each client. I felt her passion within her treatment, our conversation, and her education behind each product. She doesn't push you to buy anything after the appointment, but she does show you what products were used and how to continue treatment at home. But let's be honest, if you're going to get a professional treatment and not follow up with the home care...then why go in the first place? They want to see your skin journey progress, don't you? I bought the products, and I've noticed progress! I don't wear all the makeup anymore. I actually wear the tinted sunscreen and feel good about myself. I've gotten compliments that I look glowy. GLOWY. I know you don't know me, but you're clearly here to see if it's worth it. Take it from me; Switch your coffee budget over to getting a facial once a month, and thank me later when you feel a glazed as a krispy kreme...

My daughter and I made an appointment with Charissa Friday morning. Pretty busy. We got our hair done and honestly I will not let anyone else touch my hair or color it. I rather come here, especially just to have Charissa do my hair and see Tammy's radiant smile and welcoming personality. I love how everyone is so friendly, perfessional and place flows so well.
When waiting for my daughter to get her hair did, I tried the RED LIGHT THERAPY! Before entering the Red Light Room I was given so much information on how beneficial it really is for you and how it helped others. I felt so comfortable. It was like walking on the beach, very warm and it also felt like being in a sauna without being in a sauna, does that make since? Lol it's an experience you have to try!
I will say I will miss Kira & Jared, but they have opened a new door and I'm so happy they did! Because now we have an opportunity to try new things and Tammy & David have made this extordinary place so much more. I'm looking forward to what Mokara Solutions š©· have...
