Context: Thursday Lunch
TLDR: 8/10 Cute atmosphere, good service, beautiful but a bit underwhelming main courses, and stunning dessert.
Atmosphere: The place is very well designed and the pink and emerald green are a cute and unusual color choice for the decor. A touch overwhelming if you have a dislike or hatred of pink. The phrases posted everywhere (behind the booth, in the bathroom, etc.) I find to be somewhat tacky, but that is personal taste, they're easily ignorable, and I know others like them, so whatever. Other than that it is intstsgram worthy and fits its desired clientele.
Drinks: Very cute an reasonably priced. My iced Spanish rose latte with oat milk was very tasty, but the rose flavor was very subtle. The latte had just a small hint of floral flavor, however the coffee itself was not bitter at all.
Food: Our main courses were plated beautifully and creatively. However, when I asked how the rest of my table liked their entrees the responses were a mix of "It's good" and "It's okay". So, good, but nothing particularly spectacular. I ordered the Trout Montadito and the GOAT balls. The waitress must've misheard me on the GOAT balls because I ended up getting the Gold Bags instead. No big deal, I ate them anyways and they were pretty tasty. The Trout Montadito on the otherhand was a bit unbalanced. The menu advertises that it comes with a quail egg and pickled mustard caviar, however those were nowhere in sight on the dish and those were the two ingredients I was most excited about. Perhaps they were out? I would have liked to know if they were sold out of those ingredients so I could've ordered something else. It came with a good amount of trout, however, there was too much aioli and not enough other ingredients (like the three ribbons of pickled cucumber) to balance out the dish for my tastes.
Dessert: Our desserts were the star of the show. The banana tart was our table's least favorite (the macaron had way too much filling and we could not tell what the flavor was. A few said the tart itself was too sweet, but I believe they were not including the dark chocolate crust in their bites to balance out the sweetness). The rose-shaped cake and the Raspberry cheesecake (prominent Raspberry flavor) were rich, well balanced and absolutely scrumptious. All incredibly beautiful desserts.
Service: Pretty good service, but mixed reviews from the table. I'm laid back about the amount of service we get, so I was happy with our service, and our waitress was very sweet. She remembered our occasion and took pictures of our table at our request. Others at our table like a bit more attentive service and they thought that we should have been checked up on more often. Personal preference on that...
Read moreThere are so many beautiful and impressive things about Plated Dreams that I almost feel the need to prepare a presentation. A caveat: I do not work for them, I do not get kickbacks or anything of the sort. This is a real review as you'll see if you look at my profile. My reviews are usually light hearted and funny (at least I think they are, lol), but with this one, having read some of the idiotic reviews I had to come in a little stronger. Read some and you'll understand.
Overall: The restaurant is definitely catered for the feminine side of people. It's dainty, sparkly, pink, and tons of roses. If you can make it past the front desk without tripping over your jaw because it's so jaw droppingly (is that even a word?!?) beautiful, you're treated to an absolutely delightful scenery. The details are just incredible. I've been twice and still noticed new details ... The decor is impeccable. The design is pulled through in every.single.detail. And the attention to detail is otherworldly. You feel like you're in a cafe in Europe. The ambiance is just sublime. Sophisticated and elegant while still being light-hearted and fun. The food: If you're expecting Chuck-o-Buffet, this isn't the place for you. The good thing is that there is a diner right behind and you can easily go there instead. The dishes are super tasty, the creativity that is seen throughout the the space is clearly drawn into their cusine. I had the velvet pancakes (good lord, they're made of fairy dust and unicorn love), my sister had the Chef's Benedict which were outrageous. The lattes. We have to take a moment to celebrate the lattes. How many times do you see a latte celebrated? If nothing else, go in for a latte and a macaron. The menu was a culinary work of art. Again, if you want a bucket of food, for sure, there are better places.
The service staff: Our server was a ray of sunshine. It was so clear she was happy to be there. Attentive yet not overbearing. The manager was super as well, asked how we were, and if we were enjoying our meal... Clearly, she was genuine...
The price:. I've seen other reviews that have complained about the pricing. The prices are spot on. They're akin to what you would see in any quality restaurant. No bucket of slop. A very decent and appropriate portion for what you pay.
I have the good fortune and luxury of going to restaurants across the country. Plated Dreams is on par with those and then some. New York, Vegas...
Summing it up: if you have an evolved pallette, go there. If you like a super chill ambiance, go there. If you want to enjoy a space where you can hear your conversations and not have to yell, go there. If not, Slop-O- Buffet is nearby.

Read moreVery cool place! Just found it today and I’m glad I did. It’s awesome to have a fancy brunch place up here in Davis County. The atmosphere is excellent and has a great vibe, the staff is super helpful, prompt, and friendly. I didn’t know what to expect, so I showed up unshowered still adorned in last nights rock performance regalia hiding my greasy mess of hair under a ball cap. I was underdressed to say the least, but no one judged or gave me any shit for it. Very cool, but it’s a nicer place so next time I’ll try a little harder.
The food was amazing, I had the Croque Madame and I was not disappointed! The pictures of the plates do not do the food here justice. The portions are huge and can easily fill a hungry dude after a long night. Most of the time I would have taken half of it home, it’s easily that big. The hash browns were golden brown and perfectly crisp, the bacon was cooked crisp just like I like it.
The regular drip coffee is delicious and blows the coffee of regular diners out of the water. This ain’t no motel 6 coffee! They offer a huge variety of coffee drinks for those who don’t like to “embrace the bland” as I do. Black coffee is my jam and it can be hard to find a good cup that doesn’t resemble battery acid and week old cigarettes.
I also sampled one of the memosa available from the bar. Yes, they have a bar here in Davis County! The Memosa was refreshing and perfectly balanced with a decent champagne. I got the classic orange but they have many flavors to choose from along with many festive cocktails and shots available for those who choose to revel in spiritous beverage.
Price. It wasn’t as bad as I was expecting. For the amount of food you get it is well worth the price. I had a large self-indulgent pig out feast for one and it was $40. Not bad at all, I’ve paid much more for far less. It’s a fancier joint, so expect to pay a little more, but it’s not anymore expensive than a similar meal from Black Bear which is mere feet away.
If you’re taking a date somewhere, take them here. This is a “Wine and Dine” paradise, a romantic secret weapon that could easily lead to further delightful engagement! I’m glad to have it in my arsenal!
So, all in all, I couldn’t recommend this delightful eatery more and I can be a picky...
