Alright, Evergreen Pizza is an AWESOME place.
1123 McKenzie Ave Bremerton, WA 98337 Across street from Evergreen Park
I had the sausage, red pepper and smoked mozzarella pizza. And the beet salad.
Had to test out the margarita..potent and delicious. Moving onto to the beer, try the Fremont Summer Ale❣️
I already asked about the owner’s and the bartender’s favorite pizza. Both said to try the wild mushroom.
The crust of this wood fired pizza was beyond perfect, light, crisp and dare I say the best in town.
Service was friendly, responsive, ready when you are to place your order. The place was busy but the wait time pleasant.
And the ambience is casual beauty down to the last detail. Looking for a great date place…this is it. Of course, I sat at the bar alone listening to the great music, and had a terrific time watching the pizza making up close. Plus there was no need to wait for a table when choosing bar seating. An added bonus was the great conversation with the bartender and fellow pizza fans sitting there with me.
Got kids? No problem. Families with little kiddos were seated at tables nearby, comfortably enjoying themselves as well. The restaurant is not huge but adds to the feeling of hanging out in an intimate, personal space. And there was a nice fire pit outside with chairs and other tables if you want to enjoy the fresh air.
To top it off, walk downstairs to their sister gelato cafe! I had two scoops, espresso and salted caramel. Already I want to go back and try EVERY flavor. Best ever.
Katie, a local foodie extraordinaire, recommends the strawberry and mohito combo. But she does admits she is addicted to the matcha, with its subtle green tea flavor.
Oh and if you are into pizza making at home, you can buy a can of the tomatoes they use and pick up some first rate olive oil to go with it. How great is that??!!!!
I admit I have pizza making supplies at home so I went with a pair of artsy earrings by Manette Design that they sell in the gelato cafe. I love that Evergreen Pizza sells some nifty, local stuff that supports our community. Although now that I think about it, I probably should have bought an Evergreen Pizza ball cap to spread the word that this place is perfect...

Read moreI just want to say, as a Kitsap County resident, I actively root for new restaurants, especially ones with a seemingly artisanal bent.
I think for most pizza spots, the true test of their quality is the margherita- it's a simple pie and each ingredient needs to carefully balance the others. Unfortunately, Evergreen's is skimpy on sauce (and I usually don't even prefer much sauce on my slice!), the mozz is plasticene, and the overall impression of the slice is overwhelmingly doughy. If you want a good slice of pizza in this region, wait for Saboteur's rare pizza nights - the quality is a thousand times better than what Evergreen offers.
HOWEVER, this isn't even my main gripe with Evergreen, it's the beyond negligent service that is most troublesome. I got take out from them this week, which consisted of two pizzas and meatballs on the side. I get home, crack open a smallish container I believe the meatballs should have been in, and it's just full of sugary marinara. No meatballs in sight.
I call the restaurant and a person answers (truncated conversation below):
Me: Hey there, I just picked up my order for takeout and the meatballs were missing. Evergreen Employee: Oh, I'm sorry about that. Since you ordered online, I cannot refund you. I can email you a gift card for the amount though. Me: Okay, that sounds fine, thanks. (I provide my email).
I STILL have not received this gift card via email. I mean, $17 for meatballs in and of itself is, honestly, pretty absurd, so I'd love to recoup that money. But more than anything else, it's the principle of the matter that bugs me.
Anyhow. 1 star. Bland pizza and a worrying...
