Visited today (2024/07/18) and was underwhelmed. Someone posted 2 months ago that they think it was probably lovely renderings by people who have never utilized a playground, and I couldn't agree more!
There is an extremely popular zip line (just 1) that kiddos actually wait in line to use (line was 7 deep at 2pm on a Thursday), but it also bisects part of the park, with a walkway that goes around it only on 1 side. Plus, it's hard, but possible, to make your kiddo aware of the dangers of walking too close to ppl on swings. It's nearly unheard of to have a zipline. She did not know to look out for kids who could slam into her. Thankfully, I was walking with her & pulled her back.
But then there are also these couple areas of crazy steep hills, covered in astroturf and if your kid climbs up, you have to haul yourself up, or risk losing them, as there are no handy stairs or ramps anywhere nearby.
You have to be pretty physically fit to take your child here, or be confident they'll stay in your sight lines!
I don't know what it is about this playground, the broad areas of full sun probably factor in, but it must also be something about the astroturf, maybe? It was a 79 degree day, and I was sweating like I was a candle melting in the heat, the moment I stepped onto the playground proper. Wowza.
Lastly, I'll touch on the thing every low review has already said. The parking. What is up with the parking?? It seems like they could have positioned the building with the bathrooms further into the grassy field & fit at least 1 more row of spots. And the street nearby is NOT designed for parking. If instead of going to the main lot, you take Manchester to Dorothy Rd (just east of Brentwood Blvd), you will apparently come across another lot for the park, but it would put you a bit of a walk around that pond to the north of the playground. Suitable for bigger kids or parents with strollers only, I would think.
Personally, I am not going to bother coming back. I'm sure it was born of great intentions, but there are too many great playgrounds in the broad area to deal...
Read moreParking will be a nightmare forever until it gets fixed. The park should not even be opened right now as there is construction still going on. Kids can easily run into the construction and machinery. There should be a fence around the whole park since it is so close to businesses, busy roads, and residents. Kids could just run off to any of these places considering you cannot see the whole playground at all times. If you have multiple young kids you will need a second person with you especially if you have one in a stroller. The stroller/wheelchair path only goes around the perimeter of the park so if your toddler runs through the park you cannot easily run after them. The splash pad area was very nice. Again, not stroller or wheelchair friendly in my opinion. There is hardly any shade which makes no sense. The picnic area is nice but you cannot see the kids playing while sitting down. There is a slide that is very steep and there is no easy way to get up it except climbing up the turf? I don't really understand that. There is another way to get to the slide but if you are watching for your kid to go down, your child have to go on the other side of the park, out of your view, and then go up rocks. This does not makes sense to me. My biggest complaint is that there is no baby changing stations in the family restroom. They're in the women's restroom, but why would there not be one included in a FAMILY restroom? This park has very nice equipment, but it is full of...
Read moreSo much fun, really enjoyed it. Kids really liked it too! Starting with the PROs: its FREE, bathrooms are clean, restocked. Playground is wheelchair friendly with ramps and wide sidewalks. Playground design is well thought out and a great locality for it. Nice picnic spaces! Fun playground options for older and youngers kids alike!
CONs: -Zip line rope gave my daughter a skin burn, as no signs are posted to NOT lean into rope. We saw another girl with worse injury, big rope burns, and a big goose egg on her forehead from zip line. Def need safety signs out there!!! -Water refilling station by the bathrooms wasnt turned on yet, could only find 1 functioning one. Hopefully that'll get rectified soon and more are installed along the paths. -Not a ton of shade, and lots of asphalt, so be generous with sunblock even on cloudy days. This can be easily solved with stretching canopy over some parts of playground. -A bit low on parking, but hopefully that will get worked out too. Most southern Brazeau entrance at Brentwood Blvd is NOT labeled as one way, ugh, a bit of a mess trying to figure out parking.
Only other comment is that smelled second hand smoke on playground, but didnt see any signs...
