this particular store: the store is clean and organized well, and I don't think I've ever seen any spoiled or damaged products on the shelves. the staff is super nice and helpful. I have had to return products once or twice in the almost the years I've been shopping here and I have never caught any flak from the associates there. on one recent trip I got all the way to the register before I realized I had left my wallet at home. the cashier, Uverna, rang my order up and set it aside so I could run home. when I came back, she let me jump the line, brought my order back up on the register and processed my payment. that kind of service will keep me coming back for sure.
in general, because I think there is a negative perception of the chain: I love Aldi! there are three other large-chain grocery stores closer to where I live and I still do probably 75% of my grocery shopping here. they don't have everything, but what they do have is of great quality and better value. most of what they sell is their own brand names. you won't see those names in other stores but you might be getting the same thing. (for example, Aldi's Millville brand breakfast cereals are the same as Malt-O-Meal brand, just packaged differently.) they don't buy thousands of paper or plastic grocery bags so they don't have to pass those costs on to the customers. (caveat: if you need bags, you can bring your own or buy reusable bags at the store. better for the environment, people!) and this is the winning stroke: Aldi offers a double guarantee on all their own branded products. meaning, if you are ever dissatisfied, you bring the product back to the store, they give you your money back AND a replacement! there is literally no reason not to try...
Read moreMy first impression of the place was how dirty it was. It had a decided funk in the air. The whole store was a bit stuffy feeling.
I mainly went there to get some produce that was on sale. Most of the produce was warm, room temperature and what was available mostly looked and smelled spoiled. There were fruit flies all over the place. What little I did buy there I checked over carefully to make sure I wasn't carrying home moldy, fruit fly infested product. How long these items last with proper refrigeration is yet to be seen. I'll update the review if that becomes an issue.
All of the baked goods seemed stale or were about to be past their "best by" date in a day or two. There were a few items which I might occasionally go back and see if they have them, but not many. The fact that they have a small selection that changes weekly means they're not a good fit for regular shopping for me. It is now 2:30 in the afternoon still have not received groceries and you cannot call the store. I’m sure that is because they don’t want to deal with you. I have been a customer for years. I feel that that is going to change. I’m not going to put up with two days and I still have not received my food. I am disabled and I depend on the services. I will say one thing if you want to order your food go through DoorDash they are amazing when they say your food is going to be there. Your food is there. absolutely ridiculous I’m sure I won’t even receive my food today but it will definitely be the last time I ever use alldi. Pretty sad that you can’t even call the store.
