I am appalled by how I was treated at First Friday this April. The ticket hostess was downright rude and made me feel very unwelcomed and unappreciated. The hostess first made me feel stupid because I accidentally called it a whiskey distillery. She could have politely corrected me, but instead she very very rudely blurted out "It's rum!" So then I apologized for my mistake and tried to change the subject. I mentioned I had enjoyed going to St. Augustine's distillery. That was truly a mistake! The hostess said, "Our rum is much better," with a very mean tone. Thanks for your opinion, ma'am. I am normally quite supportive of local businesses, there was no need for her to be rude to me little does she know I have lived in Brunswick my entire life LOL
To top it off, I paid $15 for one drink, which I was confused about the prices. You have to spend $5 per ticket for some reason and three tickets bought only one drink. And when I was confused about that the host is once again seem to get a snippy attitude with me like I was an idiot. Then when I got to the bartending area I received a drink that hardly even had a shot of rum in it. It had no flavor whatsoever.
After this terrible experience I will never be returning to Richland Rum Distillery and I suggest anyone who is from out of town avoids this place as well. The staff is unprofessional...
Read moreOk OK! Now pay attention people! My Wife (sandy) and I had the privilege of doing a tour of the distillery today. Brenda was our tour guide and explained the process from the field to the bottle of how GREAT RUM (in my opinion) is made. Not only did Brenda answer all my questions (which I am full of) but when when we went to the distillery room the master distiller (Robbie) came up to the observation deck to greet us. We had a wonderful deep conversation of the process and how each type of rum was made. There is not added flavors (chemical) or sugars added. It is pure and from the goodness of sugarcane. Robbie is so passionate in his craft. Then we were treated to tasting 5 wonderful rums all which tasted and smelled exactly like Brenda said they would taste. They taught us the correct way to sample rum and what a difference. We will be ordering our good rum from Richland Rum from now on. If your in the area don't miss the chance of a lifetime to stop...
Read moreThis location of Richland Rum is in the Brunswick historic district in what was at one time a J.C. Penney location. The original timber and brick are visible throughout the establishment, which is a working small batch distillery. We took the Distillers Experience tour, which was fascinating and informative! We learned the difference between distilling molasses and distilling cane juice, and learned quite a bit about the process. These folks are a small operation which grows, harvests, extracts it's own sugar cane prior to distilling in toasted or charred new barrels. Every bottle is lovingly distilled and aged to a perfect flavor profile, which we experienced with a flight of samples at the end of the tour. I found a couple of new favorites, and that's saying a lot, since I am usually a whiskey sipper! Thank you, so much for a...
