If I had not read about this place ahead of time I would not have stopped when I passed by.
At first glance this place looks like your average "hole in the wall" restaurant, but that is not at all what you find on the inside.
I have been there 4 times now and will go back as often as I can.
The service is incredible. We went there one time during lunch rush and it was very cold outside so we did not want to sit on the deck. Instead of waiting for a table, which we agreed to, they brought a table in from outside and cleaned it up for us to sit right away.
The wait staff is very attentive. I have had 4 different people so far and everyone of them have been top notch!
Now on to the food!!!
Until I find something better in Brunswick, and I don't think I will, this has got to be the best food. I have had the Point Loma Fish sandwich grilled twice (because it is so good), the Point Loma Fish sandwich fried and Buck's Meatloaf Sandwich. All of them are great. Probably the best fish sandwich I have ever had.
The other thing that I had and would recommend to anyone is the Plantains appetizer. This little dish is amazing. It is worth getting it to go just for a snack.
The atmosphere is family friendly. I have only been during the lunch and early afternoon times so i cannot say anything about evening but I doubt that it would be anything less in the evenings.
I can't say enough about this little place. I look forward to trying the...
Read moreIndigo Coastal Shanty is just perfect! Afterwards we found out they would be featured in a March 2024 episode of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives and could completely understand why they were selected to be part of the Flavortown lore. Food - exceptional, staff – great, and atmosphere –fun especially with the amazing tree in the outdoor seating area. We checked with hostess to confirm that outdoor seating was still dog-friendly and were seated promptly. Our waitress Maddie provided great service and was personable as well as efficient. Some restaurants are dog tolerant (which we still appreciate). The Shanty was dog-FRIENDLY. We had brought our own water/bowl for our dog but still appreciated that they offered us some. They even offered our Lab a doggie food bowl with chicken & rice and he greatly enjoyed it. We, humans, found the Charleston Saute to be incredible with the shrimp perfectly cooked and I think I’ve become a fan of fried okra thanks to them. We got a chance to chat with Gustavo briefly and were super impressed with him and the entire experience. Highly, highly recommend.
Unlike the comment by another reviewer, we had no issues with getting our check or paying for it with a...
Read moreFinally! I moved to Brunswick about a week ago and food is important to me. I've traveled in close to 50 countries and lived in 5 and one of the first things I always do in a new place is look for good local eateries. I haven't had great luck so far. I've tried several places and haven't been too impressed but this one was a winner! We had the pimento cheese burger, the fried green tomato sandwich, and the chili relleno. Each was good. I'm still having a little trouble adjusting to paying for meals in the US. I've been overseas for the past decade where nearly everything went cashless long, long ago. I keep waiting for the server to bring the pay machine to me but they're waiting for me to put cash down. Cash?? What's that?? I guess I'll get used to it. I was a little disappointed there was no special of the day and no market special for the day. I find it mind blowing that I live on the coast, I've been here a week, I've eaten in several local restaurants, and I haven't been able to find seafood anywhere. I drove two hours away to Tybee Island yesterday to eat a...
