We stayed at the Watershed Resort property this most recent trip (MLK weekend 2019) and always love to stay with Watershed! They have cabins spread all over the area of all different sizes. This was a trip with several friends and we were in a larger cabin, but the smaller ones are great for a couple's getaway. The arrival process is very easy, they usually approve our early check-in request, and even offer a late check-out, which is awesome to some of my friends who like to squeeze one-more mountain bike ride in on the last day, and still get to soak in the hot tub a bit, and shower before checking out. A late check-out is like a free day to us, so we always appreciate when that can happen. Wifi is free at most cabins that are close enough in to the switch to qualify for DSL. The higher-up cabins on ridge-tops usually don't have WIFI because they don't qualify for DSL that far out, but Watershed offers a portable hotspot if you don't have that service on your phone. Cell service is generally good wherever we stay. Problems are rare, but they are always responsive to our calls, and sometimes they even let us know ahead of time that there is an issue at a cabin. We can generally do without every little feature working (electronic dart board had new darts on order, but we weren't going to play darts anyhow). Highly recommend them! The Watershed Resort is best overall, in our opinion, because you jump right down to the main road and are so convenient to everything we want to do in the area.

We’ve been long time Watershed “luxury” cabin renters. First time I was NOT impressed with them. First off, approaching cabin the grass was not maintained. Second, the master sliding door was broke, wouldn’t lock. They did come out and fix the door to lock the day we arrived, thankfully. The following day, they came and trimmed the weeds. This is maintenance that could have been prevented. The windows in cabin were filthy, it’s a new build- stickers still on windows. Felt that the cabin was not ready for renters. The “full size” washer and dryer was so small, I was washing daily small loads. It’s the size of a motorhome washer/dryer. Pair of jeans and a shirt- literally. Not big enough for a family of 4 with 2 small children. The towels are horrible. They did bring more for us but they have 4 “spa” towels and 4 “regular” towels. The regular towels are thin & so small. Typical hotel towels for a “luxury” cabin rental. The view is beautiful but it’s massive windows with zero shades so the AC was running constantly to keep up. We were not impressed at all with Watershed Cabin rentals. Not sure what has changed but it’s not the same as it was 11 years ago! It was top notch when we came then. They did accommodate with what they could & gave a small credit but it’s depressing when you count on everything being perfect for your vacation. Again, all things that could have been avoided. Grass, door lock, decent washer/dryer & clean windows.

We stayed at Happy Trails watershed cabin and for the first time in over 15 years of renting cabins in North Carolina and Georgia we were disappointed. First we as of yet have been able To contact anyone from watershed rentals I have left at least 6 messages for someone to call us back starting from our arrival there to our return home. When we arrived on the front there were at least 6 fake snakes laying on the porch by the fro t door and even the porch bench, now there may have been a purpose for this but a heads up would of been welcomed information. Our two grandkids ages 5 and 6 and myself as well were frightened and we were not sure if they were fake at first so you can imagine our welcoming arrival. The information regarding the cabin stated 2 pillow top queen mattresses and luxury towels etc etc ... if you get an opportunity upload the cabin photos and then compare them With the photos I will be attaching to this review.. our plan was simple the children would sleep in one queen and my husband and myself In the other queen ... we went upstairs and the queen mattresses felt and sounded as though it was stuffed with straw .. not exaggerating ... then we look up and the window above the bed which in the brochure look out into the forest was covered with stuffed animals which was not the problem but the spider webs were ... one of the webs on the the right of the bed above had a spider.. so the children were terrified to say the least to stay in this room.. hence we purchased an inflatable bed because there was a futon right outside this room but for some reason they felt they should store a 42" flat screen tv against the furniture... the front front porch had a tv table sitting outside as well and the side porch that was depicted in the photos on their website was so inviting we found that we could not even sit on ... you will See by the photos I include ... the hot tub cover was torn but the tub functioned properly ... there were spider webs in the house that I felt Would of been removed had they really Taken the time to prepare the cabin for our arrival not to mention the porches... the grill cover was disgusting ... but the towels felt as though they had been Washed and forgotten in the machine and then dried hard ... so so disappointed.. on the counter there was a check list That stated all webs in side of the house and been removed and the porches were also checked and cleaned and that the grill had been cleaned as well ... not so ... they had a toaster that I tried to put back together and then Decided it was to dirty to use anyway ...their check list said if there were any concerns to call ... hence the 6 messages left with no return call... as we were leaving I searched for instructions for check Out procedure.. such as trash towels etc but could not Find any and calls Were not returned so we did as we have in the past for other rentals... take out trash, clean all dishes put used towels on machine etc ... still no Returned calls .. I can’t seem to be able To download the photos on google review but...

Edit to add, we stayed in this same cottage, Valley View Cottage, again the week of July 4, 2024. We had another great experience, they have added new updated box fans and even had different sizes, which I love because I can’t sleep without a fan. The kids loved their room and our bed was so soft and comfortable.

A few observations I made this time around: although we weren’t bothered by anyone, we did notice that someone had come and cut the grass while we were gone one day and had come onto the covered porch also. Since we weren’t there, it didn’t bother me much but if I had of been there, I wouldn’t have liked someone just showing up with no warning. That’s really just our preference, we like being left alone and really value privacy. The only other thing I can think of is to bring your own toilet paper, it is provided, but it’s extremely rough if you get my drift. After the first day it felt like wiping with sandpaper, so we just got our own. My husband and I watched the entire fireworks show for the 4th from the hot tub, we had the perfect view, so that was a really amazing memory that we’ll have forever. The cottage itself is very cottagecore aesthetic, there were beautiful flowers blooming all around and it’s in the woods, so makes for good pictures. We very much so look forward to staying here again!

My husband grew up going on vacation to the Bryson city area, but this was my first time there. The cabin was perfect for our family of 5 (Valley View Cottage), the kids had a bedroom with bunk beds and then a (double I think) bed, they had a tv and their own bathroom. The other bedroom was really nice also, the bed was SO comfortable. I was pleasantly surprised to find a box fan in the closet (it’s very hard for me to sleep without a fan and I had forgot mine). The hot tub was clean and hot. I personally loved the screened in porch and the chairs in the backyard around the fire pit. The cabin is private but not isolated and a huge plus was that no one bothered us at all. The rental company sent me a nice text on the day of arrival and the day of departure, but other then that, there was no contact which is exactly how we like things. We were super close to town and only 10 minutes from Cherokee. I would most definitely stay there again! We hope...

My wife and I recently rented lil goldie and our experience was terrible with the property management company and I tried to express that with the manager , owner, and staff but they literally do not returns calls. A day prior to our arrival my wife called the office because we had not received any check in directions we left a voicemail and no one ever returned our call. Check in according to the website is after 5. We arrived promptly at 5 with expensive food and still no word on how to access the cabin that was locked. I called several times and left several messages adventually someone did call back and explained the key is hidden under the steps of the hot tub not exactly the safest place but we were just happy to get inside. Thinking that was the most trouble we would have I hung up then noticed 2 bags of half open bags of trash that had been left in the kitchen. Fluids were leaking on the wood floor and the smell was terrible. I called back and left messages and my call was not returned. We had to rebag someone else's trash and clean the floor. Being summer in the mountains you can't put trash on the porch because bears and other wild animals will rummage. The bags were in the kitchen all weekend. The cabin had a great view but had black ants everywhere probably from the crack at the bottom of the door. Previous renter left a note complaining about similar issues. Fan and lamps were filthy with dust but the bottom of the toilet was absolutely disgusting it was obvious no one has cleaned it a very long time. We decided to cook on the grill to find we had no gas tanks with grill. Hot tub had a ring of filth and the cabin has one steak knife so we had to share. I documented all this with pictures, left messages,e mails and even a note at the cabin when we departed and still no one has bothered to call us. I have rented many cabins in wnc and this was our first time using this company and by far the worse experience I've ever had with a cabin rental company. If anyone one would like to see the pictures please let me know I'm happy...
