First, let me please say that the people that work at this store are remarkably friendly and helpful. My problem occurred when I recently purchased a DJI Inspire drone from them. After about one week, the camera stopped working and they told me my only recourse was to send the unit to Vegas or Florida for DJI to repair.
My extreme frustration comes from the fact that I spent over $3,000.00 purchasing this unit from them and had also spent over $1,300.00 in December with them for a another drone. Over the years, I have purchased over $20,000.00 of product from them, and yet they are now refusing to either refund my money or exchange my unit of a new unit. Product failure after two weeks -and only offered the advice to send it to the manufacturer for repair?
Again, the people working there truly are top of the line. But the failure of the store to be able to provide refunds or replacements after they sell a product that they represent is very disappointing. I would have bought a product from someone for this amount of money knowing that they would not refund or replace a DEFECTIVE product they sold. I assume that I did not read the fine...
Read moreI went in a couple of weeks ago to get an overview of electric RC stuff as I am considering getting into the hobby a little further. I have been flying a 4ch heli for a few months and plan to scratch build an inexpensive foam board plane and go from there. I told the guy where I was and what I wanted to do and asked how to best decide on the right radio and receiver. All I got from the dude (Bob?) was a bunch of double talk that made zero sense. My take away was the guy was more interested in talking over my head to his self aggrandizement than simply helping me figure out which transmitter might be best suited for me. This is the second time the same guy has "helped" me with the same approach.
Result: Google and Flite Test Now I know what I need to know and when it comes time to buy, I will certainly not be buying anything from HobbyTown. Sucks for them because I work right up the street and will now be happy to shop with B&B Hobby or Grayson Hobby.
Thanks for nothing...
Read moreWithout a doubt, this is the best Hobby Shop in the Atlanta area. I’ve been a customer since they were in Duluth and thought it was awesome that Philip the RC expert bought the store from the previous owner. He is always willing to take the time to answer questions and explain how things work. The rest of the employees are always friendly and helpful too. I have bought at least 5 RC vehicles from him as their prices are comparable to most online retailers without having to wait for shipping. More than once they have taken care of problems with new items out of the package. Common repair parts are almost always available, even if they are not he can usually order them and get them faster than I get them from the third-party sellers on Amazon. They also have a small selection of RadioShack components as well as an indoor RC crawler and drift car track that’s free for anyone to use...
