If I could I’d give this hospital ZERO stars but unfortunately, I have to put one only because it won’t let me leave a review. The night of 04/28/24 my fiancé went in to the ER due to a severe asthma attack and pain in his chest. The wait for him to be attended was an absolute joke being the fact that he couldn’t breath and felt like his breath was shortening more and more you would think that they would’ve attended him faster but it didn’t go that way if anything they called his name so they can put him in the room, but the waiting game began as soon as we got to the room after a long period of time waiting nurses came in and did some blood test as well as a Chest x-ray and an EKG After all those tests were ran dr finally came in with good results and with a prescription, but the nightmare started from there as soon as he got up From the hospital bed, he noticed a wet spot on his pants And he also noticed the mattress sheet was wet as well. We both took a whiff What we didn’t know what it was, and It was old urine that was seeping through the mattress and the bedsheet. We called one of the nurses to come in so we can tell her what was going on and all she could say was let me get the nurse that’s in charge of all of us so here comes the nurse that’s in charge of we mention to her that it’s very disgusting that you get out of the hospital bed being the fact that you were laying on old urine and her response was how do you know it’s urine Because housekeeping cleans her mattresses all the time is what she claimed. She know that we took a whiff of that and you can smell it. It smelled like days old urine on top of the hospital bed. There was huge blood stains was very disgusting as well and dangerous because you don’t know the person before you has you don’t know if they have a disease that’s contagious. You don’t know if the person is sick , we don’t know nothing at all. We just know that the room that they gave us was absolutely filthy and disgusting so all she said was I can offer you a pair of pants We said no thank you as we were leaving. My fiancé wanted to use the bathroom and come to his surprise. There was urine all over the toilet seat and inside of the toilet and there was a urine specimen cup on top of the sink that was absolutely disgusting and very unsanitary anybody could’ve gone and just sat on toilet or touched the urine specimen, not knowing what it is. I believe that housekeeping needs to do a way better job because clearly housekeeping is not keeping tidy of this hospital at all. God forbid my fiancé results with some type of disease due to the fact that he was laying on someone’s urine. Let’s hope and pray my fiancé was not exposed to anything Due to him laying on a dirty urinated hospital mattress because this will be a...
Read moreI’m writing to submit a complaint and observation about my experience with a few of your hospital employees yesterday. I was waiting for an elevator’s arrival and when the doors opened, three (3) female employees were standing in the elevator. Out of consideration for their possible exit, I asked if they were going up. I am both an expecting mother and I had my 2 year old daughter and elderly mother in my care so I wanted to be considerate and if they were planning on exiting and not going up, I wanted to give them space to exit the elevator. To my surprise, my courtesy question was met with complete silence and zero response from them.
So I paused for a moment when there was no response and decided to walk into the elevator assuming they were not exiting. That’s when one of the employees asked another employee “Why didn’t you say anything?” to which she replied with an attitude, “I don’t need to say anything” and they started giggling and mumbled some other words under their breath. I wasn’t paying close attention because I was so shocked that they would be so rude to react and respond in such a manner. As an expecting mother with a toddler and elderly mother in hand, I was already stressed about having a smooth hospital visit and experience for the day. We came to get our flu shot and this experience absolutely did not help because they made me think that I wasn’t deserving of a space on that elevator.
When I came into this hospital facility and environment, I expected much more professionalism and personability from staff. When I think of a hospital setting, my first thought is the quality of care I will receive from beginning to end. During a time when there’s another strain of COVID around and we Flu Season is around the corner, we arrived already a bit stressed only to leave feeling worse.
Unfortunately their actions were a disgrace to their work field and environment and made me feel very unwelcome and very uncomfortable to continue coming back to this hospital. My experience at other Sutter Health facilities has been different and great and I definitely did not expect this kind of behavior from this Sutter Health location and your professional staff members.
They exited on the 2nd floor, we got in the elevator at 1pm on Sept 5, 2023.
I know their actions don’t reflect all of Sutter’s staff however please address this with them because I would hate for any other patients to deal with this type of unprofessionalism...
Read moreMy middle school son experienced a mental breakdown due to school bullying and we were advised to come to Mills psychiatric ER. While we got processed quickly, we were routed to the general psychiatric ER to have my son under observation for the following few hours. It was quickly clear to me that we were not in the juvenile department of the hospital that we had been told about and that my child would be processed in the midst of adults having mental crises. I was thankfully allowed to sit with my son and talk thru his thoughts. Meanwhile, we listened to an adult woman wail for 4 hours coming in and out of her observation room. In that mix, another middle schooler was admitted into the same area.
To start with the pros, we got handled by a wonderful psychiatric nurse who interviewed my son and helped him get through his episode, with the advice of a doctor. We were released some hours later after a positive assessment. We are truly grateful for his singular help and support!!
Unfortunately, the cons of this experience need to be mentioned as mental health support has a loooong way to go here and confirmed what we keep hearing in the news across the country elsewhere: There’s no navigator helping thru a mental breakdown as to what the steps were and process at Mills or help you after. We were not led to a juvenile mental health department as promised. When I asked abt it once, I was rather rudely instructed by a nurse that “this was it” - how does one really deal with unprofessionalism when your child is falling apart at the same time?? Why are the observation room walls so thin? Why are children mixed with adults??
It has led me to believe that mental health is truly poorly understood and managed by even established institutions.
This was our first experience and at that a near disaster.
We got through our experience through that one nurse and my son is doing well today through other support systems. I would have rather he had never gone thru this experience at a hospital in this manner.
I’m not sure I’d come here if I had a mental breakdown - adult...
