Simply the best ice climbing guides in VT. I had the most incredible adventure with today with Zack ice climbing even though the weather was a bit rough in the morning with some cold rain. I already told 3 friends what a great time I had and can't wait to review the video and photos once I thaw out. As I told Zack it was tough for me to be expressively grateful on the mountain cause I was trying to focus on all of the technique and safety tips/protocols but I finally got a chance to process the trip and reflect on it. The older I get the more I realize the experiences are what matter in life and this adventure of being guided/lead by Petra will always be remembered. I feel extremely fortunate to be supported by him and your organization. His expertise, character, focus on safety, chill demeanor, patience, and leadership make adventures like today totally magical. He is extremely efficient at all of the administrative safety work (ropes, anchors, etc.) allowing me to spend much more time climbing and less standing around waiting. Even when we were waiting he was talking about the knots he was tying, explaining the rock structures, or history of alpinism techniques with crampons. ...
Read morePetra Cliffs has the most welcoming vibes of any climbing gym I have visited recently. Most gyms pay lip service to ideas of community and inclusivity in polished plastic palaces devoid of personality. That is the opposite of this Burlington gem. The passion the owners have for climbing permeates through the staff and facilities. They are involved with every climbing initiative in Vermont and the local orgs. They are out in all seasons. They share their knowledge, experience, and smiles all freely. If you ever need a reminder of what climbing used to be like, or wish to give it a try at a place where there is no need to be intimidated, go to Petra Cliffs. It's simply the place for everyone that loves climbing already or would like to see what the fuss is about. I'd say that I hope it never changes, but what I really mean is that I hope they never change from being the kind of welcoming place that strives for improvement, innovation, and fun at all times. Maybe it's not the climbers that have the most to learn - it's...
Read moreIt was our first time here on 12/19 with my wife and 9-year-old son. The gentleman taking care of us was really short, not welcoming, and not engaging with us at all. He was rude and seemed really bothered by us. We didn't get his name but he has long curly hair and wears it in a ponytail. We manage painfully to get through selecting and paying for what we wanted $80 to climb for the day. We were lucky to have a nice woman give us our orientation and she apologized for the gentleman's behavior. She was extremely nice and answered all of our questions and we greatly appreciated it. Especially after having the experience with him. We tried our best to enjoy our time but we still left with a BAD taste in our mouths. To put it simply we will not come back to this place because of the POOR customer service we experienced. I will gladly take my business to Metro Rock any day! First timers here don't waste...
