Bait and switch company should be their name. FTC and North Carolina AG are investigating Stanton Optical 's business practice. Fraud, false advertising, falsifying business records are just a few of charges. They advertise two pairs of glasses for $79 and eye exam. The sales crew with Sylvia ( the gang leader) ambush you as soon as you get there with eye exam offer. Giving impression that it is free and reliable, sending you to the back of store to have online eye exam! I didn't know that such a thing existed. I went to this store with my prescription from Duke Eye Center to get two pair of glasses for $79. I was never offered the glasses. They ran my insurance and found ķ out that I had coverage for $300 toward purchase of glasses. After exhausting my coverage they charged me $113.78 for a pair of glasses with 30 day warranty and scratch resistant, etc. 3 weeks later , when I got glasses, it wasn't made right. It had a blind spot on the left lense. Next day I returned it to the store. After some haggling, they ordered another pair. ( They let me keep the useless pair, till the I receive the replacement. ) Another trick of the business in their trick bag. Two weeks later I got my replacement pair of glasses with a lot of fan fair. I used these glasses for about 30 minutes next day, when I noticed the scratches on the lense. I took it back to the store same day, to have it replaced and taken care of. Ms Sylvia ( the gang leader / store manager) informed me that warranty is for frames only and doesn't cover the lense. She would replace the lense for $75 more if I'd buy the lense warranty. Another bait and switch. Initially when I purchased the first pair of glasses I was told that lenses were warranted for 2 years from date of purchase. I walked out. I am stuck with a useless pair of glasses now, and no more insurance coverage till next year. I would never recommend this business to anyone. They are rip off artists at best with fake smiling faces, till they get your money. If you decideto visit Stanton Optical in Burlington NC , You'd need to go in while they are busy, so you can see and hear customer complaints...
Read moreCertainly make your own choices but I would not recommend this place and here’s why.
first impression day was nice with some help in choosing frames and answering a few general questions and an exam that was done remotely. That was a new experience but seemed to go ok. Ordered top of the line glasses and an additional pair of sunglasses.
Returned a few days after picking the glasses up as the clarity wasn’t what I expected with the glasses. After 3 reorders of lenses, a repeat eye exam, and several hours of being in the store there was no resolution.
Returned to the store to return both sets of glasses and request a refund. I was met with lots of pushback from a staff member. The manager. But take note, all the floor sales people are managers.
I went to a competitor and while working with a licensed eyeglasses person, not a doctor but a technician we found that my prescription was not correct and we found where my troubles were with the glasses. This took about 15 minutes working with a licensed technician. I didn’t see any licenses hanging on the walls of this store so it’s an assumption that all the staff work under someone that is licensed. You know the phrase, knows enough to be dangerous.
Received an email with a subject line of refund receipt the same day. Went back to the store to return the glasses and asked for a receipt of them being received. Again met with lots of pushback. A very simple request to have a few words written on my billing receipt to indicate the glasses were returned. So I replied to the email advising of a refund with the request but I’m guessing I won’t receive anything back.
I’m my option this store does a great job taking your money on the front end. When it comes to customer satisfaction, and resolutions it’s...
Read morei honestly have no words to explain how un satisfied i am with my visit.
i ordered glasses and contacts along with a free trial for contacts
first incident was they let me pay half up front then said i could do the other half once i pick everything up. after two weeks nothing was ready so i call and they said nothing was processed because i still owe half. they could have let me known that when they said i can pay half up front next incident was going to pick up my glasses and the lady helping me was extremely rude and made it seem like my presence was inconvenient for her.
lastly was picking up my contacts once they were ready and as i was doing that i informed them i still haven’t gotten my free trial contacts and it had been about 4 weeks. they just kind of shrugged it off and said they will let me know when it’s ready. okay that’s fine but i informed them i’ve never had contacts before and wasn’t sure how to use them and they opened my 6 month supply of contacts FOR ME in store to try on after telling me before that i cannot return them if they are opened. which is inconsiderate for them to open because i haven’t even tried my free trial to know if i like contacts??
anyways i get home and after about a week i realize i do not like contacts and call to return them because at this point i still do not have my free trial contacts and i ordered them in march it is may. they said i cannot return them because they were opened and i am just so baffled because they opened the contacts for me knowing i do not have my free trial contacts yet. over all i will be finding a new eye doctor. i have hundreds of dollars going to waste because they made a poor call on their part honestly a...
