TL;DR: Things were not locked combos were reset incorrectly, not sure what staff do if the first game of the day is put together so poorly, room was dissapointing at best, will not be back
We were the first scheduled game of the day we went and as someone who has done a few escape rooms at this point before coming here I have to say this is my second least favorite I've ever done.
The start of the experience was wonderful, the room was intricate and we'll put together at first glance though it quickly became clear that this company is all about the initial shock and awe and everything after is just...so disappointing. I won't reveal what room we did so as not to really spoil anything specific, but when we progressed further along in our experience we found the rest of the room was less decorated, and more like a pointless throw together. It took away the excitement of progressing to move from something so fabulous to something so... Dull. One of the rooms only had one thing we needed and the rest of it was essentially pointless. One of the combos on the locks was set incorrectly so it didn't open on the word it needed, so you had to change one letter. One of the locks was already opened when we got to it, so they clearly don't double check each other or walk through before games which considering they knew we were coming as the FIRST game of the day, you'd think things would run a little smoother. The staff were friendly, but when we pointed out the issues to the game master at the end he deflected saying he wasn't the one to set things up. Sure, granted maybe you got here after that, but I'd have double checked the room myself knowing I'm running a room for an important group of people. Even the owner of the place was there and if I was her I'd have done the same thing to make sure everything was as perfect as can be. Minnesota nice has me giving them 3 stars over 2, but maybe I should drop it down to that anyway. The whole experience was just...so disappointing I honestly don't know how to feel about it. You can tell its a franchise though after your game. Just so...
Read moreReally enjoyed this place. Did the scooby-doo themed room and had a blast! Normally I stay away from large chain escape rooms but scooby doo is one of my favorite so I had to. Puzzle were unique and interesting, good mix of magnetic and physical locks. Lighting was good, room was themed all around couldn't see anything that brings you out of the experience. I would argue lots of the puzzle s are pretty simple/easy overall, but there are LOTS of them so it fills the time. Gamesmaster (cant remember their name unfortunatley) was very pleasant and cracked a few good jokes. And front desk was nice too. Reason for the four star review was just a few slight things that didnt really ruin the experience, but were perplexing. 2 things in the room weren't on correctly (one of which was fixed before your timer started but was glaringly obvious) which makes me feel as though then room wasnt fully checked. and there was a clue in the room that helped us basically skip a big chunk of the puzzle.. gamemaster said they didnt realise it was left in the room, was told it was an "asset" that are typically put in for younger groups (we were 17-21) or for puzzles groups don't like. We finished with 17minutes left so I didn't really feel like we needed it- or if we did we would've asked for a hint. Either it was left in the room on accident or another gamemaster made an odd desicion and put it in the room. I work at an escape room, so I totally understand that these things happen and are somewhat uncontrollable with certain bits of tech but unfortunatley it keeps it just slight of 5 stars. Overall, definitley recommend if your looking for a new escape room to go to or if your a big scooby doo...
Read moreMy husband and I probably approach this differently then most people because we really want to savor the experience and solve every puzzle. Therefore we book 2 days in a row so that we have the time we need to succeed and not feel rushed. We have enjoyed every game offered at Burnsville Escapology. Our fun is in no small part due to the way these games are designed and set up, but mostly due to the exceptional people (staff) who are the greatest part of the game experience. Each of the people we have encountered are encouraging and reassuring. They laugh and cheer with us when we get something right and empathize and commiserate over the puzzles that are most difficult to solve. They have all been willing to "debrief" us at the end of every game. The game masters are witty with their help, give just enough of a hint if asked for to enable us to move ahead without solving the puzzle for us, and let us fly entirely on our own if we so choose. Before we did our first game we stopped by several times to ask questions and get the "flavor" of the place. We were greeted very warmly by whoever was at the front desk. They happily answered every question, listened to every comment and made us feel so very welcome. We have been thoroughly happy with our experiences at Escapology in Burnsville, and wish other escape room entities would use the same model as this one. Our most sincere "Thank You" to everyone there now and to those that we have encountered in the past for being part of our adventure there. We look forward to new encounters as soon as they can be...
