I have been hooked on trying Filipino food after learning about the variety it has to offer in its cuisine through Filipino food vloggers. I did some research prior to coming here and learned their menu is always changing. You can either check their Facebook page for the menu of the day or just wing it and see what they have to offer. I looked at prior menus and everything looked delicious so I was going to be stopping in regardless.
Before I get into the food, I just wanted to note how friendly everyone was here. The customers shared some recommendations while the lady serving me also helped me pick out a couple dishes. The gentleman working was very personable as well and made me feel like family! He stopped by a few times to make sure everything was tasting good and was also great to chat with. I would recommend this place based on the customer service alone. It was a very happy and uplifting vibe that the workers were giving off which really made for a great experience.
Now, back to the food. Since it's an á la carte menu, you get the opportunity to try a bunch of different dishes. I ordered the lechon kawali, pork adobo, dinuguan, lumpia shanghai, and a halo halo to go. Everything was delicious in its own way but the pork adobo was probably my favorite. The meat was ridiculously tender and flavorful. Although, the lechon kawali with the sauce they provided was pretty killer too. Everything was seasoned perfectly and nothing was too strong in terms of spice or flavors. The dinguan was new to me but a customer told me it was good so I gave it a shot. For anyone unfamiliar with this dish, it was meat I believe that is cooked in pork blood and other spices. I also got a cup of fried rice which paired well with the dinguan. The leftover stew could be topped over the rice too for some tasty bites. It might sound a little crazy if you aren't an explorative eater, but I found it to be pretty good! Don't knock it til you try it.
However, if it really came down to the star of the show, it would have to be the halo halo. Don't get me wrong, I would come back for some pork adobo, but this halo halo was kind of life changing. It made me feel like I was in a game of Mario Kart if that makes any sense, specifically rainbow road. In other words there was a lot going on and I was trying to make sense of everything. None of these ingredients would've been anything special on their own, but when combined it was a masterpiece. You will have to stop in and try it to see what I'm talking about. This was the best treat I have had all year in terms of taste and uniqueness.
Anyways, I will eventually make my way back here in the future to try some other dishes they're cooking up. If you haven't been here yet, make sure to stop by and show this place some love! You will be happy that you experienced some Filipino...
Read moreBEAUTIFUL. FANTASTIC. PHENOMENAL. DELICIOUS. Anyone reading this who's on the fence, don't be silly, come here immediately. As soon as I walked in I was met with warm smiles. When I said I had never even tried Filipino food the chef himself and server were eager to let me sample their items. That alone showed me this place was all about its customers enjoying their experience. Lo and behold, of the six things they had me sample I had 0 complaints about any of them. You cannot go wrong here. Customers walking in to pick up their orders or sit down also took it upon themselves to sing Manila's praises upon hearing it was my first time there. I got recommendations of all sorts. You know what enthusiastic and loyal customers mean: the food is GOOD.
The chef said since Filipino dishes are so varied and plentiful, he changes the menu up everyday. He said that the signatures like adobo, sisig, and crispy pork belly is usually here everyday. There's also baked goods and Filipino drinks available, and the country's signature dessert Halo Halo.
I got the sisig, adobo, and a meat skewer with rice. Holy hell was it satisfying and tasty. My husband and I shared one lunch special and we were full. The servings are incredibly generous. We also shared the Halo Halo.
100/10 stars. Seriously. Go here now. What you see is what you get, kind people who care about their food and the people that eat it. It's as...
Read moreSARAP SARAP!!! It was my first time eating here (08/12/22) and the food was just as amazing as the other 5/5 reviews said. I had the sisig, lechon, and halo halo (all pictured). They were very similar to how my Filipina wife and mother in law from Metro Manila make them, so yes, very authentic!! The service was very fast and kind as well. I can confidently say this is now my favorite take out food in the US. It makes me homesick for Manila even though I have never been there (moving there very soon) lol!
You HAVE TO go and support this place! If you have no idea what Filipino food is just try their sisig with the provided dipping sauce and side of rice, it was plenty to fill me up even though I ordered lechon too (I'm a baboy!). Filipino food is made to combine each bite with rice and sauce otherwise you miss the full flavor. Then have a halo halo dessert. You will get great food for a very reasonable price! Now for my own rating system, KEEPING IN MIND this is a little take out place, not a full restaurant experience- Taste 10/10 Cost 10/10 Portion size 10/10 Available options 8/10 Atmosphere 10/10 Decor 7/10 Place to bring a friend 10/10 Will I return? 10/10 General...
