āIT broke my phoneā I recently took my phone to a local phone repair shop in Burnsville called Helper tech. My phone was not charging via cord but after going to the store I found out that the charging port from the phone to the āplug inā location was not functioning properly anymore. I also was told that my phone would work with a charging dock but not the cord. Charging docks can range from 40.00 to 100.00, depending on the style. I was told this would be a quick fix, to come back in an hour and it will be completed. Nothing else, I did not sign any paperwork, waiver or anything for potential issues that could arise. After a couple hours, I went back and was able to pick up my phone. They showed me the charging port was completed and fixed. I was very satisfied at this time, believing my phone issue was minor and fixed. Before getting home, my phone started turning on and off every five minutes and I was unable to do anything with my phone such as making phone calls or text messages. I went back to the store and they said they would take another look at the phone. I had already spent 100.00 to get my phone fixed and now I might have to spend more due to something they did. They stated that it would not cost me anything. The store had to keep my phone overnight to trouble shoot and figure out what was causing the issue. This issue was new and never occurred prior to going to Helper Tech. Not only that, in order to complete my job, I need to access accounts that I can only do with my phone. So, the next day I went into the store, where they said they were fixing my phone. However, when I got there the tech was not there and I was told he was at the other store. The first day I was at the store I was promised that Helper Tech was going to be the priority of the next day due to this being an issue they caused. When I asked why the tech was not working on my phone, no one could give me a straight answer. Irritated, I went home, still without a phone. Same day, I received a phone call from the tech saying they were unable to find out the issue and that they would try to get some new parts in to fix it (on their dime) and if they could not fix it, they would give me a new phone the next day. The third day without my device, I was notified that my phone was not able to be salvaged and they were going to give me a new phone when I went to the store. This was nice, since they had messed it up to begin with, however, they attempted to give me a phone with less quality than my other phone, stating that was all they had at the moment. When I said this was unacceptable, miraculously they found a phone similar to the quality I had. Very shady and not a trust worthy company, yes, they had made good on their end but in the long run, as a first responder, it comprised my ability to do my job- during a pandemic- and create more stress and annoyance because of all the sneaky attempts to give me worse quality products. They said yes, but they didn't have the screen in stock. I would have to stop in, and fill out the paperwork. Stopped in, filled out the paperwork, and prepaid for the parts, and labor. I no more than got home, and I get a call: it seems that that don't work on the Google Pixel 2xl, and if I want a refund I would have to go back to the store. It seems that they don't know how to refund my purchase by the transaction number, they need the card. So I turned around, and went back to the store, and they processed the refund. But no, I get a call 10 minutes later telling me that instead of a refund they charged my card a second time. But this time I didn't have to drive all the way back. I could just give the card information over the phone. Why I couldn't do that the first time I don't know, but I will definitely be watching my credit card statement. Brought it back, got a new screen, next day the right side of the screen went out. WENT BACK FOR A THIRD TIME, and got the screen replaced. Guess what? It blacked out the next day as well. I brought it back and they tried to say it is now a "mother-board" issue. Ha, interesting. Even when i used the phone with a CRACKED SCREEN I DID NOT have these issues. This play uses cheap replacement parts. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE. Go to Apple. They have certified Apple screens and it costs LESS than this clown shop.
