Hatcher Winery - Murphys Tasting Room — Attraction in California

My good friend introduced me to Hatcher a few years ago. Since then, I've become a wine club member and have been for about a year now. I figured, what the hell, since I travel from the bay area at least 2-3 times a year literally to visit their winery and buy their wines. I'm always amazed how consistently great their large selection of wines are. Sewell has always taken care of me even before I was a club member and even personally delivered wines to my house during Covid - 19!!! Fantastic!!! If you're looking for a winery that has more than one or two "good" choices, check out Hatcher!!! You'll be impressed. And yes, don't forget the bread....

On the strength of the wines, I joined the wine club. The tasting room is lovely and they are generous with their pours. The bits of sourdough bread they provide to cleanse your palate between case are baked in-house and available for sale as well. Delicious! The staff on hand is interesting. If the winemaker, Sewell, is behind the counter you're in for an interesting time. He does not hold back his opinion and can be a little gruff but is much more interesting to talk to and than the standard tasting...

Worst customer service! After waiting for three days for a response to my email & voicemail inquiry to set up a special birthday tasting, I decided to call the owners cell which was provided on the answering machine. Big mistake! “Sul”, the owner was so rude and short with me, made me feel stupid for trying to spend my money & time there.
