If you want an MBA & you are at a point of your career where having the degree backed with solid work experience will be an advantage. Then Hult is a good place to start with. If one is looking for huge brand equity, big jump and mileage through a high-end alumni network, then they aren’t your brand. ( to make a point here one cant compare them to Harvard etc as they have 30-40 years alumni relationships, standard 24-month programs & well-nurtured communities. Hult is fairly new in the Bootcamp-MBA format to be compared to the stalwarts)
Their location & networking events in Finance & Tech Meet-ups has been a huge advantage compared to Bschools located in Tier-2 cities of USA.
MBA is genuinely about making real connections, understanding multi-cultural nuances in business situations, creating impact & being hands-on in the ever-changing business world. Hult will give you adequate real experience with those scenarios and the remaining part of the leg-work totally depends on the candidate’s personal goals, funds & motivation
Our batch consisted of fair number of candidates who pursued work opportunities in their home countries ( in A-list brands ) as well some sustained the OPT work period ( again with a combination of start-ups, internships & good offers in USA itself) .
The short program allows limited opportunities to network well & pursue internships ( which is a key highlight amongst traditional MBA schools. ) One has to factor this aspect while making that informed decision about pursuing work opportunities abroad.
Pro ( 4/5)
• They are a disruptor in the short MBA format ( the benefits in this case are visible within 3-5 years compared to 1-3 years of one’s career path depending on the socio-global -political-immigration law-recession scenarios) • International locations & diverse learning environment • Cost is relatively less than a traditional 2-year Mba ( the entire 1-year living cost is saved, however the job search post-mba is an additional real cost too ) • Really well-known professors for some of their finance & marketing programs • One recovers the cost of the program within 2-4 years based on the profession, total experience & location of the job hunt/offers. • They are quite prompt in their communication , incorporating changes through the feedback forums.
Dean Mary & her team are a solid bunch. Kudos to her.
Cons ( 3/5)
• Can have a robust career counselling team explaining the multiple factors related to visa (its impact on recruiter, networking aspect)/ career jumps / Job hunt process. ( Each country has their own set of rules and cultural norms for job preps , interview process & skillset training. They can be lot more transparent in their workshops & forums explaining the pro-cons of moving countries, labor laws, migration & worst case scenarios)
• Networking & Growth Mindset were the keywords that I heard a lot in our trainings. However being a newbie to the business world in American Landscape even with solid 7+ years of work experience , some more real experiences could have been shared in the workshops. Credits to them for encouraging many conversations. ( However due to the fast pace & high intensity program a lot of it was lost in the information overload part )
• The timing of the graduation month can be planned better. The pass-out batch almost enters the market in the last quarter of the year where hiring reaches a freeze or wait till January situation making it unviable for new students to negotiate well or wait for entire 4 months for kickstart of the new hiring season. ( they do have an option to do a double masters that has separate pass-out date so one saves the slow timing of the last quarter hiring bit , its an add-on costs for living expenses)
• The alumni network management relationships can be...
Read moreHi Everyone, As a HULT Alumni, I have to tell you that I had a great experience at HULT.
I felt the need to write this review as I noticed that a minority of students/alumni have been sharing a total different experience from the one I had and from the one the majority of the alumni I know had.
For the ones that are in the process of choosing a school to study (MBA/MIB/MIF/MIM) you may want to talk with alumni that have a constructive feedback.
I understand that internet is fast and easy but you are not choosing a Restaurant you are choosing a school. HULT was the perfect fit for what I wanted in my life and in my career, with the resources I had. Moreover It seems that unsuccessful people have more time to write (bad) comments than successful ones!
Yes, I was among the top students. Yes, before the MBA started I knew what I wanted to improve during the program and I was focused on that. Yes I didn't wait for Career Services to get me a job and I only used Career Services to do my Resume and to heavily train for interviews. Yes, I agree that a minority of students was not prepare or didn’t care. Yes, I was not focused on those ones.
I got my offer 3 months before Graduation in a top consulting Company in the USA. Yes, I am not American and I had to go through all the Visa process. I got my first interview through an Alumni after being rejected several times by other alumni or non-alumni that didn’t have the time to talk with me or didn’t think that I was the right fit for their Companies. Yes I was rejected several times. That’s life.
In my network of HULT alumni I have contacts in the most prestigious Companies. Off the top of my head, Mckinsey, BCG, E&Y, KPMG, Deloitte, PWC, Goldman Sachs, Infosys, Google, Amazon, Nike, among others. If all the students get jobs in these Companies? No. But it is possible and it is real.
It is not my role here to hard sell HULT or comment the comments. More important than that is to tell those ones that are looking for Education/Business Schools to pursue their career dreams that (1) an MBA don’t make you smarter, (2) Career Services is not there to get the job of your dreams. They are there to help you working on that; (3) High Expectations are your responsibility. Manage your expectations when you come to USA. This is the most competitive place on earth. If you cannot deal with competition/frustrations/expectations while you are doing your MBA here, in USA, you may want to consider if this is the right market for you.
Moreover, I still keep connected with several alumni, some professors and people from the staff and I am totally available to participate in events promoted by the school. It was a great experience for me and I want to give back.
Hope you find my opinion helpful to the forum.
Best of luck with your MBA...

Overall, I have fond memories of my time as a student at HULT. I was immersed in the most international environment that I have ever been in in my life. Working, learning, and interacting on a daily basis with people from multiple nationalities gave me the necessary skills to perform at an international level. The technical knowledge and soft skills acquired in business school gave a boost to my career to the point of becoming a professional who as of the time of this review, works in the global headquarters of an Amercian Fortune 250 company with more than 100 years of history. It took me years after graduating to land this job... but I believe that having a diploma from a US university played a very important part.
With regards to academics and activities, I recall that it is up to the student to make the most of them. I saw students that took their MBA very seriously and some students who took it mostly as a gap/party year. (My guess... like other universities...) Some international students went back home, some landed jobs abroad (including the U.S.), and some started their own businesses.
When it came to landing a job (As an international student, landing a job abroad was at the top of my list), I remember that I felt discouraged because it was not as simple/easy as I imagined just by reading the marketing pamphlets. I remember struggling when I realized that many US companies were not sponsoring, and some recruiters had not heard about HULT. Eventually I saw it as an opportunity to talk about the strengths and selling points of HULT: very international, multiple campuses around the world, its accreditations (EQUIS, AMBA, AACSB), participating in the HULT Challenge to tackle a real business problem at a real company, and talking about overall rankings like The Economist and Financial Times (TOP 100 MBA).
Career Development did provide us with tools to help us navigate in our job search, but at the end it was up to us to make it happen. Note that in addition to applying and networking, sometimes it is also a matter of luck... being in the right place at the right time.
This did not apply when I went to school, but I think it applies today... If you are an international student, I would suggest taking advantage of the programs at HULT that qualify for the STEM OPT (a 24-month extension period to the one year OPT of F-1 students). This has the potential of giving you up to 3 years of work permit in the US.
I hope that this helps if you are considering HULT as your business school.
PS: Don't freak out if you receive a ton of ads when applying... it is not a scam (although bombarding people with ads is not a good look and it does not paint a serious picture of a serious...
