We were here on the morning of Valentines Day for brunch because we were basically snowed in and didn't really feel the need to make any special plans. Arrived and the host was not at the stand so it took them a minute to seat us which was fine.. The server was very courteous and took our order fairly quickly. That's about where the high point of the experience ends. It took them nearly 45 minutes to bring us our food: clam chowder, loaded tots, breakfast sandwich, and lobster benedict. Server and another attendant brought out EVERYTHING at once and had the gall to bring us two bowls of clam chowder that very evidently had been sitting in the cold for way too long. The soup had a thick crust on top of it exactly like when you leave a sauce or soup sitting around for a few moments - unsurprisngly it was lukewarm on the cusp of cold. The tots were actually not bad but again, not very warm. My lobster hollandaise which was a $20 entree was actually cold to the touch so the sauce, eggs, and butter on the lobster were basically inedible. Initially I thought this was the error of the kitchen because our server was so nice - then I took a look around the place which to be clear, was not busy due to the snowmageddon situation, and eventually concluded that everyone was given their food in a timely professional fashion while our server clearly just did not do the service properly. My expectations at hotel restaurants generally aren't high but even at a dumpy diner I have never had someone hand me a bowl of soup with a crust on top of it. I politely told our server that our food was cold and truth be told, I didn't want to wait another 45 minutes for them to redo our order to they "generously" took 20% off our ticket, it should be noted that our server mentioned this us and a manager did not come to check on us at any point. The whole time we were dining we then were privileged enough to watch their bartender very loudly try and give astrophysics lessons to a poor older couple seated at the bar while the 2 or 3 servers, including ours, stood next to him chit chatting. I'd extend my complaints to the food but to be frank, the food was so cold and gross that I can't tell if the food was bad or if the temperature just made...
Read moreMy wife and I decided to celebrate the 4th of July at Art Bar in Cambridge, Massachusetts, but left with a lukewarm impression. Initially, we were disappointed by the lack of available tables in the patio area, but we settled for the bar, where we were treated to two delightful cocktails - a lavender concoction for her and a blackberry one for me, both of which were strong and satisfying.
Unfortunately, the service fell short. It took a significant amount of time to get attention from the staff, and when we finally did, we were told to wait even longer due to the restaurant's busy state. This, coupled with confusion over which waiter was to take our order and an uncomfortable interaction with a waitress, was rather off-putting.
Things did improve when a manager stepped in, rectified the situation, and took our order. Our drinks were promptly served, yet a second round revealed inconsistencies - missing cherries and an unexpected change in sweetness.
The food was a mixed bag. My lamb burger was passable but unimpressive, and the accompanying onion rings were disappointingly burnt. My wife's Art Bar Burger was not to her liking - overdone with scant vegetables. We did find a saving grace in the sweet potato tarts which were thoroughly enjoyed by both of us.
Sadly, despite the excellent cocktails and convenient location, the overall experience at Art Bar left us wanting. The subpar service and inconsistent food quality have unfortunately deterred us from a return visit. It's a pity because we really wanted to love...
Read moreArguably the worst service we've had in the Boston area. We had a party of 8 people show up at 10:30AM for Sunday brunch and we ordered drinks right away. The restaurant was MAYBE half full.
The iced coffee was literally just hot coffee poured over a glass full of ice. By the time it came to our table the ice was already fully melted and the coffee was very watered down. We then put our food orders in around 10:45AM.
After about 45 minutes goes by, our party starts to get a bit anxious/hungry. Our server has came by once to refill waters, but otherwise seems very content and unconcerned about the fact that our food is taking so long. When we asked them about the food, he told us a few times that they were SUPER busy that day so food was taking a while (the restaurant only got less full as our time there went on).
After over an hour of waiting, we asked the server if we could have bread to munch on since we were still waiting. He proceeded to give us a basket of some of the cheapest looking bread we've seen and only THEN did our food finally come out.
The food was okay, but by that time we were so hungry anything would've tasted good. Tip was "included" since we had a big party, but that's still no excuse to treat customers the way we were treated.
Will never...
