This theater is not good.
At a basic level, the prices are too high for an old theater with small screens, lower quality sound systems, and no stadium seating (sloped floor).
But what really makes this theater exceptionally bad is the poor customer service and lack of attention to the customer experience generally. Last night I had one of the worst movie theater experiences of my life.
It started at the bar. I ordered a double bourbon. He rang me up for $21. A little pricey, but it is a bourbon at the movie theater, so okay. I paid. He poured one shot into a plastic cup. When I told him that was a single, he told me he accidentally rang me up for a single, and a double would be another $10-12. I told him that was too much to pay for a single. Rather than give me what I wanted at the price he told me it would cost, he brought a manager over to refund the cost! And he ended up tossing the whiskey down the drain. TERRIBLE customer service. And he did not refund the tip.
Then we sat next to two obnoxious people who talked too much. One of them snores loudly through the latter half of the movie. Not the theater's fault, but still.
Then the house lights came on during THE DRAMATIC CLIMAX of the movie, and they stayed on through the end credits.
Also the ticket printers were broken and the lobby was a mess.
I hope this theater gets its act together, because there are only 2 in town. Even better would be if it went out of business and was bought by an independent theater that cared about...
Read moreThey would get 5 stars but the last time I went there I had the worst experience I've ever had in my life at a movie theater! First off me and my family went in hoping to see Tarzan (this was on a Sunday) so we go in only to find out all the seats are sold except for the handicap ones. So I go back and talk with my family about our other movie options. As I do the ticket host sells 2 of the handicap seats to non handicap customers. So I go back up to the desk and ask if those seats are for sale, she says yes but you will have to give them up if a handicap customer wants them. So I ask how many are available, at this time only 2 are left. So I'm furious, because she never bothered to mention the seats were for purchase until I went back to ask and I had 4 people in my group including myself and now there is only 2 seats left. So half of my group leaves and me and the one other person decide to see the Conjuring 2. Now at this point in time the tickets became full priced to my dismay. We buy them and sit, about 20 minutes into the movie (during a very quiet part) I can hear laughing, shouting and talking in the lobby which drowns out the movie. So I went and made a complaint. Overall do your best to avoid theater 5 because you can hear everything and everyone in the lobby an make sure to pre-order or come in extra early for your...
Read moreDespite spending many hours, and forming many memories at AMC Theatres throughout my life, i can say i'm deeply disappointed with AMC as a whole.
At the request of their maintenance company (Ferrandino & Son) My company repaired their broken storefront (one window).
It's now been close to, or over a year since that work was completed. Ferrandino & Son acknowledged the work was complete, but then simply stopped responding. Payment was naturally never issued, and any attempt to reconcile this issue always ends up the same: No response.
AMC Carbondale for it's part acknowledge the repair, acknowledge we hadn't been paid, and the manager stated she disliked the 'maintenance' company as well. I was told that someone from corporate or a higher up employee would reach out to me over email... As you can expect, that email never came, and probably never will..
As a small business local to the region, it's a slap in the face when corporate giants choose to simply 'ignore' debts knowing full well the small business can't contest it in court due to court costs being so high.
I'm extremely disappointed, and i will NEVER go to AMC for any...
