This japanese-inspired bookstore and stationery Depot has many sought after manga and small caliber writing tools. Also a few art supplies. Collectibles and wearable merch from your favorite Japanese characters also available. I have an enjoyable time whenever I stop at the store. My only suggestion is that the employees be more attentive to the customers. The women have always been friendly and helpful in the past but some of the younger guys seem to be more interested in their own conversations than helping the customers. It only happened one time, but it was a visit where was looking for an ended up buying multiple items and the employee in question seemed too busy to help, and or gave me short answers instead of helping me thoroughly. Otherwise, looking forward to shopping there again! I bought my son a cool pair of socks and a t- shirt for his birthday. If I get a chance I will update with the pictures. * pictured in this review are items from my last couple of visits: a Japanese wall Banner, a couple of posters, some grid-style notebooks for practicing kanji characters, a book binder/pen holder, and a gel pen. Practicing kanji can be difficult when you use average pens with a large diameter size. I love the fact that they carry .05, .04, .03, (and .25?) size gel pens, and in a large variety of colors. These are great options when you are drawing kanji characters with multiple elements in them in a very small space.

After visiting a Kinokuniya in Seattle over the summer, I was ECSTATIC to learn that there were two locations in the metroplex. Out of the two, this one is far bigger with a great selection of manga, anime merch, gifts, and Japanese stationary, pencils, and pens. The atmosphere of the store is laid back and cozy, and I spent quite some time just looking through all the goods that they have. It's a wonderful place to buy some goods for yourself, get high quality stationary, and get gifts for your friends. P.S. - As I'm sure you can already tell, this isn't your ordinary bookstore. The few books for sale are almost all in Japanese. The rest of the books are manga and artbooks, some in Japanese, some in English. Don't come here expecting history books and Agatha Christie. :)

I wish I could give this store a zero rating as I had a pretty awful experience and wont return to this shop again. Wednesday February 10th around 4 pm to 430pm I went into this storefront for the first time and I had a great time looking through the aisles with my friends. It was our day off, we dont get days off together often, and we had just eaten our group was full and happy in the mood to explore and do some window shopping. There was plenty to see and a lot of variety and interesting things in the shop, so there is that at least. We were captivated and spent around 30 to 40 mins in the shop looking for a gift for a friend and checking around for some art supplies. I picked out 4 items two 10 dollar gifts, a dot matrix spiral and a mechanical pencil with lead backup. As I walked up to the register for what have been a simple transaction I sat down my things and prepared for a 40ish dollar total. It never occured to me to check the price on the spiral notebook. When the cashier read off a 62 dollar total at first I thought I heard wrong as I am a bit hard of hearing; I asked her to repeat the total she did and it was in fact 60 dollars. I asked her how. She listed off the item totals and I discovered the spiral was 20 dollars plus tax. Quite a bit more than I expected, she asked if I would like to remove the spiral from the purchase and of course I said yes, I never expected a spiral to be 20 dollars in the first place so I mistakenly didnt check the price. This is where my whole experience went south. The cashier rudely threw the spiral notebook on the floor behind the counter in a pile of things I assume needed to be reshelved and told me "The price is listed right on the spiral". While she wasnt wrong, she did not need to be rude about it. I almost walked out without purchasing anything and if it weren't for the fact that I found the perfect gift for my friend I would have left immediately without saying a word. Normally I love supporting local shops and I look the other way when things are a bit overpriced because I also enjoy in person shopping. Truthfully, the prices here are astoundingly high. I looked around plenty and passed on many items I may have wanted because of the price. This is not to mention the incredibly rude transaction with the lady cashier. I dont like putting more money in Jeff Bezos pockets, but next time I need a novelty gift item I won't bother coming here. I will look elsewhere or simply save myself some money and order through Amazon. To the cashier who was rude to me, either stop taking people who dont want your franchised stores overpriced items so personally or find another job where you arent so angry that you take it out on your patrons. No one is forcing you to work there and the labor market is highly competitive right now. Please find a job that doesnt make you hate your life. If you cant be pleasant with people in a novelty gift shop/manga store than perhaps you should find a job that isnt customer facing. This is not an...

Total: $40.00 Purchased: Notebook

We have been here multiple times but have only purchased items one time. This place has everything you can imagine in a Japanese bookstore: books, notebooks, manga, pens, and anime merchandise.

Would we return? Absolutely! We enjoy shopping here, even if we don't purchase anything.

The environment here is very nice. It's clean and in a great location. Kinokuniya Bookstore had everything we were looking for and more. This bookstore had mangas in English and Japanese, a variety of notebooks and pens, and plentiful merchandise from different anime.

The customer service was superb. We were unable to find a particular manga, so the staff assisted us. She didn't complain nor did she look annoyed--I wish I had written her name down to talk about her excellent customer service skills. If you're reading this, you helped me find for Re: Zero manga!

Kinokuniya Bookstore is not cheap. From pens to notebooks to plushies, all are expensive; however, I believe it's worth it. The quality of their products is superb. Their notebooks feel great and are nice to write in. There are pens for you to test whether you like how it writes. It is a great physical place to purchase items from.

Parking is mediocre. Because the parking lot is huge, there is a good amount of parking spaces; however, during the weekend, it will be difficult to find a parking spot because it gets crowded.

Even though Kinokuniya Bookstore is an expensive place to shop, it sells quality products. You can find yourself spending about an hour here, easy. If you are looking for great pens (Muji, etc.), notebooks, or anime merchandise, visit Kinokuniya Bookstore. You won't be...

I just wanted to give a shout-out to Kinokuniya for being an amazing Japanese stationary store! This place is a total stationery lover's paradise. I was blown away by the huge variety of pens, notebooks, stickers, washi tape, and other cute and quirky stationery items they had on offer.

The staff here are super-friendly and welcoming, and they really know their stuff when it comes to stationery. They're always happy to help you find what you're looking for or make suggestions if you're not quite sure what you need.

The store itself is bright, airy, and impeccably clean, with everything neatly organized and displayed so you can find what you're looking for easily. And let me tell you, the aesthetics here are chef's kiss - everything is so cute and stylish, it's like a Pinterest board come to life!

Overall, I had a fantastic experience shopping at Kinokuniya, and I can't wait to go back and stock up on even more stationery goodies. If you're a stationery lover like me, you absolutely need to check this place out - it's the bomb! Oh, and I almost forgot to mention - Kinokuniya also has an awesome manga section! So not only can you indulge your love of stationery, but you can also pick up some of the latest manga titles while you're at it. It's the perfect one-stop shop for all your Japanese culture needs.

Honestly, I can't recommend Kinokuniya enough. It's such a gem of a store, and I always leave feeling so happy and inspired. If you're ever in the area, do yourself a favor and swing by - you...
