Last night, my 11-year-old son went into House of Cards excited to make a big trade. He found a Josh Allen Kaboom he wanted and asked the owner, Christian, if he’d consider a trade. After looking through my son’s case, they discussed trading two Downtown cards (Bo Nix and Drake Maye). Even though my son was already losing about $250 on the deal based on the valuations, Christian went on and on about how he was the one “winning” because he needed to make money to keep the shop open and fund an expensive trip to the Dallas card show.
Christian encouraged my son to “think about it” since he felt my son was losing so much. They tried to include a Jokic card valued around $115 to help even things out, but Christian claimed it was worth $250, couldn’t find comps to back it up, and after wasting 5 minutes trying, huffed, yanked the card back, and refused to include it. Very professional.
Ultimately, my son decided to think it over. On the way to the car, he changed his mind and wanted to complete the deal — but by then they had locked the doors and refused to reopen or answer.
We came back FIRST THING this morning to finalize the deal, only for Christian to smugly say he had a “better offer overnight” and wouldn’t honor the agreement.
This was a $1000 deal involving an 11-year-old kid, and Christian handled it with zero integrity, patience, or professionalism. We’ve visited multiple times before this and every time, the owner’s attitude has been nothing short of dismissive, arrogant, and unwelcoming. Prices are way above comps, and any attempt to negotiate is met with defensiveness and frustration.
There are PLENTY of other card shops nearby that actually care about kids, customer experience, and building a real community. House of Cards is not one of them.

Having worked in the sports card industry for years, I can honestly say that House of Cards stands out as one of the best shops I’ve ever visited. The selection is phenomenal—constantly refreshed with new inventory that keeps every trip exciting. Whether you’re hunting for rare singles, sealed product, or the latest releases, there’s always something worth checking out.
Pricing is more than fair, especially given the quality and variety they carry. You can tell Christian and his wife Amber truly care about their customers and the hobby—they’re knowledgeable, friendly, and always take the time to chat or help you find exactly what you’re looking for.
It’s rare to find a shop that nails both the business side and the personal touch, but House of Cards does it perfectly. Highly recommended to collectors...
Read moreOverall House of Cards had a nice feel when walking into the store and was laid out nicely. However when I started looking at the cards I couldn't help but notice the unjustifiable prices for some of their cards. One example that comes to mind was a Bradley Chubb prizm card from this year. They had a price of $8 when the card has consistently sold for $1. Even his rookie has sold for $1. I understand there's overhead and I could justify paying a little above but this was a total price gouge. This is worrisome because kids come into shop here and are going to spend their hard earned money on extremely overpriced cards. If they can fix their prices and be more fair to the customer, I would consider giving them another chance but with the multitude of different shops in the area, I cannot see myself shopping here in the...
